no, John Brady did that. Brady made this program a relevant place for skilled players to go to again, and got to the Final Fo

Yes he did. Brady did an admirable job for the majority of his career here, but struggled with consistency. Only had back to back tourney trips once in his time here. With talent though, he was exceptional imo.

played UNC tighter than anyone else in the tourney that year. If that team were to play Carolina in a best of seven series, it would have went 5 games, maybe 6. Johnson didn't keep the recruits coming in, but it definitely wasn't "dead" except for atmosphere.

This program was dead after Johnson, from a talent and excitement perpective

We haven't made a back to back tourney since 05 and 06. Last year was our 2nd appearance in the last 9 years

Hell, we won 11 SEC games last year, in a stronger conference than years past. Trent's last 3 seasons had 12 SEC wins combined (LSU has 29 in the last 3)

I've actually been encouraged by the improvement that I've seen in some of the players not named Simmons.

Me too. Showing potential, but we are too streaky. need some more consistency.

if johnny is here 10 mor eyears we'll probably be a tournament team 6 or 7 of those years. he'll get good classes but we'll have a down year or two. i'll take that any day over trent's last 3 years

ole boy is right, would be hard for a guard to grab 70rebs in 5 games.

though kittles was a larger guard. He got 7rpg that season

It's November and we are down two starters.

Our other great recruit, who is an exceptional shooter, was ice cold.

We showed some nice character in both games coming back. Now we need to learn how to close out games and improve for the return of our Senior leader and a pretty athletic big

Not sure if you guys watched the last two games. We can't rebound the basketball. Few second chance shots on offense. Until Craig Victor and Hornsby are back it's going to be this way. When the best player in the country takes 6 shots, it's unacceptable. We will be a good team, just experiencing growing pains right now.

Yeah, I'm sitting here at work trying to figure it out. It is killing me now. Hahah.

Odom is really the only player I can really think of that had that skill set off the top of my head in the 90's.

i've been trying to think of good rebounding guards from the mid-late 90s. chauncey averaged over 5 one year, i think jackson around 6 his last year at minnesota. stackhouse came to mind but i don't think his assistististist numbers were very high.

rondo probably could have been in the mix had he scored more

and i just noticed it was first 5 games fricking retard, thought it was 7 for some reason

I agree, and I understand the frustration that his coaching can bring.

But, let's cross the elite program bridge when we've established ourselves as a consistent tourney team. Right now, JJ's done his job and made us relevant again.

John Wallace from Syracuse was towards top in points and rebounds, but only had 90 assist all season. Maybe he a 3rd of his assist in the first 5 games. hah

How about take a break from the regularly scheduled meltdown (of which I'm a part of ) to give Tim Quarterman some credit. No one played harder than that kid the last two games. His relentless effort is the biggest reason LSU was even close at the end of both games. Simmons is the star, but Quarterman might be the most important player on the team. He's the glue.
