Lay down your pipe dude and go back to the OP. where I wondered aloud about Lebron, Michael, and Kobe....and find the insult in there if you can. You're as stupid as your name.

That always get me, the defense was non existent, absolute BS if I ever heard it. The defense was brutal in those days, players constantly got hurt, knocked upside the head or worse going to the rim.
The defense was terrible. But the fouls were hard

Those can both be true

You posted to me in this thread jackass about some shite that a jump shot and defense isn't needed for greatness for Simmons or some stupid shite like that, and I called you dumb because it's dumb comment. So your count lil arse just came back with a insult just now, you're dumb lil arse is so stoned you don't even know what the hell it is you're posting. And now I see you continue to play the games with another moronic comment in another thread posted to me. Go and play with your Moms you know what.

They just played much more different back then, my man, like I said you would have to be from there to understand, I am from that era. I played BBall in college in the late 80's, it was just a different style of ball back them, much more physical than todays game.

You're angry...I get that...calm down. I did post that...you're right and so am I. But you responded to a different post. Respond to the correct post next time in a coherent manner and you won't have to resort to hissy fits.

Now if you want to continue acting like a petulant little pussy...that's fine. I'm done.

Okay, if you say so. I'm not gonna argue with you because it's pointless. I watch these guys today and look at easy layup or dunk given up one after the other, that would never happen back in the 80's and 90's. I routinely see soft, easy defense in today's NBA, but somehow you say it's the previous era that was bad. Lol

The 110 points per game averaged throughout the 80s and the videos of no help defense say so, not me

lol at your edit. Was faaaaaaaaar easier to get into the lane for a dunk back in the day

Much better shooting and passing back then and they ran the fastbreak back then like someones life depended on it, they don't do that in today's game except for maybe a Golden St. Teams back then would grab a rebound and were off and running, but like I said I do not wanna argue about this you believe what you want to believe. I do know that if it was somehow possible to matchup a team from that era with today's era, the older era would demolish your era.

I'd absolutely take him over Westbrook and Kyrie, dude's a pass-first point-forward whose entire approach to basketball is getting Embiid and the wings involved and creating scoring opportunities, not to mention he's a great rebounder and can penetrate like a wizard

really?

Per 36 Minutes

Westbrook 25.1 Points 9.9 Rebounds 10.1 Assists
Simmons 16.9 Points 8.7 Rebounds 8.7 Assists

I think I'll take the additional 10.4 PPG that Kyrie gives me with his 89% FT and 41% 3Pt over Simmons 56% FT ans 0.00% 3Pt. Let the bigs rebound. That's what they get paid to do.

For the reasons I articulated, absolutely, Ben Simmons is incredibly reminiscent of Magic Johnson and impacts his team the same way-was reflected by Philly's win total this season, I prefer that over someone like Russ and Kyrie and he's an effective defender as well. Almost the total package as an NBA player but not quite relative to his ability to shoot.

I will save all the trouble and post the entire game 7 from the Celtics vs Lakers 1984. I have posted and discussed on the MSB multiple times. Myself and others went back and watched a multitude of complete games from the 80s/90s so we could be more knowledgeable in discussing basketball in the different eras. Unfortunately for the nostalgia crowd, video does exist, so we can actually go back and watch those games and not rely on their extremely biased story telling....

1984 game 7 finals complete game

Now that you watch this again, just apologize me for how wrong you were Basketball back then just wasnt the same. The defense is non-existent

Oh yeah y’all watched all 80 games that season is the playoffs!! Stupid and literally ZERO DEFENDERS TODAY. Zero presences in he paint. Remember there is NO ZONE DEFENSE UNTIL SHAQ.

You didn’t watch the series did you. Where was worthy and Wilkes? They still nearly won that series because of Magic
I’m a HUGE CELTS and Rockets fan. Been watching this for 60+ years and can without a doubt say I’ve never seen as complete of a player as Johnson. He was cut short by the freaking NBA due to his illness.

I love how y’all probably think mJ couldn’t defend. An ALL TIME GREAT DEFENDER as was Payton, Dumars, Mad Max, Olajuwon and even a young You can’t name any today.

Kobe was he last of the great defenders. In fact isf Simmons wants to be like anyone, he should choose Kobe. He was a legit 6’8 with a great game to defend, shoot and win a game for you.

You cannot possibly believe there is defense in this league.

You go watch Game 4 from the next finals... Simmons counldnt carry Magic’s jock.
He sure in the hell ain’t hitting a winner hook in the lane.
