Being as objective as possible, do you think we will be really good this year?

I really haven’t been paying attention to this team, or any for that matter

I’m caring less every year as I get older to the point all I need are TLDRs

12 win team or 9 win team?

Did we improve our defense at least, from the worst of all time last year?

I'm cautiously optimistic, but I'm not stressing over trying to guess. We'll know by time we go to sleep tomorrow night.

I mean… it’s hard to be worse than the defense last year. How good this team is really depends on how much better the D is. If it’s in that 40-60 range, 10+ wins is definitely on the table.

Most objective analysts have us as a 10-2 team.

If this happens I agree. Too much talent to lose 4 imho. 10-2 is my call. Probably won’t play in sect but will make the playoff as a 9-11 seed.

We should win 9 or 10 games this year, including USC. We will also be sniffing a spot in the playoffs. A bubble team.

Probably not going 8-4 but even if we do, Brian Kelly is certainly not gonna be on the hotseat. LSU is married to BK for better or worse until at least year 6.

Defense will make that difference.....and the offense has to rebound from the NFL losses.....
So, it could be a tough year......but you never know!

I expect the defense to be much more competent. We may not have our most talented defense ever but we certainly have enough to be a functional & effective unit.

I think we’ll definitely be good. “Really good?” Who knows. I think we certainly can be, just won’t know a lot until we see it in the field Sunday. But being really good isn’t always the same as have a really good season. Schedule sets up nice, but there are some tough games on there. Especially if teams like A&M, Florida, and Oklahoma are better than expected.

But I think the success of the season lies very heavily on the outcome tomorrow night. We beat USC, and are very likely to be 5-0 going into our 1st bye week with 2 weeks to prepare for Ole Miss at home while they will be playing their 2nd road SEC game in a row (I think they travel to South Carolina the week we’re off). So I think that sets us up well to start 6-0.

9-3 or 10-2 probably if defense improves. If defense doesn’t improve, might be 7 or 8 wins with this schedule

People are getting way too caught up in the narrative around "You can't replace that offense"

Correct me if I'm wrong but did ANYONE think we'd have an elite offense going into the season last year? No. There was zero rumblings around us being that dominate.

Which goes to show you, we have no clue how good this one will be.

Been on the Nuss Bus for a long time. If ge doesn’t cost us any close games with turnovers, 10-11 wins.

Which means we would likely only have to go 4-2 to end the season to get in the playoffs at 10-2. Assuming we beat Arkansas on the road and Vandy at home, we’d just have to find a way to split these 4 games:

@ A&M
Bama at home
@Florida
Oklahoma at home

Tough games, but if we’re really good, we should be able to at least split those if not go 3-1. But it all starts with USC. We HAVE to win that game. Not that we can’t still make the playoffs if we lose, but getting off to a good start will breed confidence instead of doubt, and we won’t have to carry around that mental anchor of another 0-1 start with very little room for error again.

It’d be almost impossible not to. I think we’ll obviously be improved. How much? We’ll see.
