Didn’t it look like the batter hesitated then swung anyway?

Was he still in the batters box?

Doesn't matter. The announcers were saying he might have done it on purpose. I think it was just a weak attempt at a hit and run. Whether it was or not, the pitchout needs to be better so Garza can clear himself.

Batter saw an opportunity and took it. I'm sure Garza learned his lesson

Garza for going up to get it. Henry for not throwing it far enough high and outside.

Garza was in the left-handed batters box if that’s what you mean. I disagree with the rule but it is what it is

He stepped the away and lucky he didn't end up with a broken hand.

If the pitch out was the call... and the pitch wasn't far enough outside then Garza has to stay put and wait on it.

Henry for not executing a proper pitch out.

Garza for not realizing where he was and staying back even though his mind set is get the ball and throw the guy out.

The South Carolina batter for making a heads up play and realizing Garza was close and getting a free base.

His left foot was out of the box almost on the plate.

You want to step to the ball if it’s in the right batters box. But you can’t come forward like he did. Bad pitch, yes. But he’s still in control of his body.

It was a hit and run. Let’s not give the batter that much credit. He wasn’t starting his swing as a reaction to Garza. That would be way too late.

He wasn't running though.

Pitch out has to be pitched out better. But it's more common nowadays to just throw the ball high and outside.

No it wasn’t. Garza’s whole body was well within the left handed batter’s box and his glove was almost a foot inside the left handed batter’s box

I'm not trying to doubt the guy's mental capacity, but for him to swing once he noticed Garza was coming out to get a free base would take some serious quick thinking. I really think it was just a weak hit and run attempt.

Doesnt natter. Garza moved forward. He got in the batter's way. That's catchers interference. The right call was made.

IT was not a great pitchout by Henry made a lot worse by Garza by stepping way up into the batters box to catch it. Just a bad move by Garza, he struggles with a good bit behind the plate but his bat has really started to come around finally.

Where do you draw the line between catchers interference and purposely whacking a guy in the hand?
