Wasn't the reason we didn't win it this year because of the major roster turnover and inexperienced players? If so, I've got some bad news for you..
I'd argue that a lot of the reason is because Jay trusted players like Neal and Kling to take a step up like Bear did and they didn't.
This year, he is not trusting freshmen to step up, he is recruiting portal guys and if guys do develop, great. If not, we have a transfer to fill the spot.

I agree, but that can be said about the guys coming in too. You are counting on guys coming from Wofford, South Florida, Mount St Mary's, Indiana St, etc to come in and be able to perform in the SEC. That's no guarantee, as we have seen.

I’m not assuming that all of these transfers are going to be hits.
My point was that a big reason we won last year, was because of talented, experienced guys that had been at LSU for 3-4 years. The only guys that could fit into that category next year are Guidry, Frey, Pearson, Herring, Shores.

I don't disagree. My point was that last season Jay trusted a single kid to step up to man a single spot. There was no plan B. This season he has his guys that he hopes step up but he's bringing in transfers to be plan B and maybe even plan C. The odds of one of 2 or 3 guys figuring it out is better than relying on a single player.

You are quite optimistic.
We will still be a young team.
We will have a good group of Sophomores that hopefully take the next step but that's not always a given.
The transfers we are bringing in are mostly from small schools. It's not a given they will produce at the same levels when they go against SEC pitching and hitting.
Our pitching staff is a question mark at this time. We are hopeful guys like Shores and Noot can produce at a high level but we have no clue right now. Anderson seems on a good path to be a quality pitcher. How is the Wofford ace going to do in the SEC? I think the Mount St. Mary's guy (Sheerin) and his 97 mph fast ball will be legit. I wish we could grab at least one more big talent arm out of the portal. After the draft I'm hopeful Herring, Loer, and Ulloa will be back and take another step forward.
We haven't even made it thru the draft process yet. If we can keep some of the recruits that would be nice.
All in all it's way to early to think we are a NC team. We don't even know what we have yet.
I was kinda hoping we could pick up guys with more SEC experience in the portal but there have not been many in the portal so far. Jay has had to go after smaller school guys who will be making a big step up in competition. I remember liking the Auburn center fielder when we played them, so I'm very hopeful he has a big impact.
Hopefully it works out.

Most of the better SEC experience is in Omaha so maybe we can snipe some players from those teams?

1. Such as?
2. Portal shopping isn’t done yet boo

Yeah I understand that thought too. I think we’re on the same page, just wording it differently. I guess my overall point there’s still just as much unknown as there was last year. This past year we had guys that we were hoping that would step up. Going into next year we don’t really have guys like that, as they all are transferring out. We have no choice but to replace them with transfers.

the SEC is stacked. Lots of things need to go right for anyone to win the SEC let alone a natty. I am a homer too bro but 10% chance at best

Not sure how we will be in the Top 15? We were 11th Place in the SEC and on paper will not have as good of a team as this year?

A team that finished with the same SEC record as us just got 3rd place finish in the country.

I'd say 2026 or 2027 will be the year. 2025 seems to have a huge roster turnover.

likely to have 3 fire Jay Johnson threads a day AND a NC.
FIFY, our fan base can call to fire our coach AND win a natty all at once. I believe in us.
I used to have a sig line that said something like "The perfect ranter season would be winning an undefeated national championship and firing the head coach"
