Some of you apparently just have no clue how important defense is at the catching position. And Milazzo is ELITE defensively.
You are correct but Neal a who bats lefty with power and is on par with Milazzo defensively & will only get better will see the field more if Milazzo is batting .180 I hope Milazzo bats .300 but he has not proven he can bat .200 in his first 3 years

This is the time when a lot of arm injuries happen. Same thing in the pros, a bunch of guys get injured in the first couple weeks after pitchers and catchers report.
It has to do with the ramp up and change in intensity from the offseason.

As the season progresses, I believe Skenes will probably will be the DH in 2 of the conference games instead of one unless someone else steps up and is very productive. Could also be dependent if a righty of lefty pitches against us in the Saturday game.

so, Noot actually is injured?
Posted on 1/23/23 at 9:20 am to MorbidTheClown
No idea. He doesn't post on Twitter, the staff is tight lipped on injuries. The best chance is for someone to ask Hunt Palmer on twitter or On3, or to ask one of the beat writers on twitter.

Someone could have asked him at the baseball banquet last night. You'd think if they did though it would be reported by now.

I heard it from a player at the baseball banquet.

I don't doubt that, or even doubt that you're telling the truth. But I'd still like to see it reported, because that means it's acknowledged publicly by the coaching staff.

I think he's going to have a huge year.

We are very deep at DH so I doubt this will happen.
Have to keep in mind 1 of the big reasons we got Skenes to come here was selling him on our depth and not overusing him. The more you make him hit. The more overused he's going to feel and the higher chance he will have getting an injury in his draft year.
The plan laid out to him is start on the mound Friday, rest Saturday, then DH Sunday and a mid-week game. Not to ever start at DH when he's pitching and get a full day off after pitching for R&R. He might perhaps get spot pinch hit ABs on a Saturday perhaps in a dire situation if it calls for it, but I dont think they're going to overuse him because that was kind of a huge selling point in him coming here was a more proper schedule for him.
He started like 16 games on the mound last season for Air Force and hit in 51 games with 153 AB. He was hitting even when he was pitching. He's trying to get away from that and minimize his chance of being hurt during his draft year.

He was also catching. Dudes workload was insane.
