We'll see. Middle infield is rich in this draft class, might be slim pickings for college SS. Also, I'm sure Jay will start looking at stability/development more, even in the transfer portal age...you can't sustain success without some stability/development.
I'm done talking about Thompson and Milazzo. I want the best for them both, so I don't want my analysis to come off as too critical. Middle infield and catcher are just 2 really critical areas, so I can't help but over analyze. It will all work itself out.

I'm hoping that he has a good enough season to not be here as a senior. If he has to come back, it means he didn't have the season we needed and he probably isn't our starting SS next year regardless.
LSU’s last two Sr shortstops were pretty good. Austin Nola & Kramer Robertson, you may have heard of them.
Being a SR is not really indicative of talent

Frey, batting second in the third inning, walked and stole second base off Hellmers (P) and Jones (C). He moved to third on a passed ball and scored on Stevenson's 2b. Stevenson went to third on Kling's bobble in RF and scored on Milazzo's sac bunt.

Love me some small ball.
Get 'em on, get 'em over, get 'em in.
Manufacturing runs.

Frey has played well in the spring. Been on base every scrimmage. Has a HR & a few stolen bases, too.

Thanks scuba, what did the Jones at 2B experiment look like, anything hit his way?

Big, athletic kid. Both Jones and Frey are big, athletic kids.

Frey runs pretty good from what I saw in the fall. I wonder if he could have a future in the OF.

Jones has as good of a chance at playing 2B as Tre Morgan does. Nearly every RH player on the roster could play infield in a substitution debacle, though.

Frey is gonna improve quickly now that he is playing baseball full time. Football took a lot of his time in high school.

Jones has played a little at 2nd and 3rd this spring. From what I have seen, he could be used at either in an emergency but not ahead of several other infielders on the bench.

Hellmers seems to be quietly putting together good pitching lines.

Imo Wes is going to really elevate this staff.

Thanks Scuba!
Between your scrimmage reports and Adam's previews I'm like a kid in a candy shop. Can hardly wait to get this season started.
Anything really surprised you this "spring" yet?

I sat down today trying to find something worth watching, and I thought to myself about 100 times that I wished baseball season would have started this weekend. Instead I tried to find a place to stream The Sandlot. I'm that ready.

Several things I'm surprised about this spring: The depth of talent, compared to last season, in both starters and relievers on this pitching staff; The increase in fan interest and attendance at scrimmages; The almost total lack of fungo use during infield/outfield practice; The lack of any upgrades at Alex Box Stadium other than the new American flag we got during fall scrimmages; The lack of local players' parents to talk with at scrimmages.

Do they post the scrimmage schedule somewhere? Like to take my son out there.

Are they using machines for ground balls/fly balls instead of fungos?

Yes LSU baseball releases it sometime in the middle of the week. It will be posted on here as well. Come back and look for it Wednesday afternoon
