I personally don't think it will be Hampton either. Maybe deep in the season for Hampton. I think it will be a while before he is ready

Conventinal wisdom says this is true, but I'm not sure we are dealing with a normal kid here. LSU is being widely talked about as being the best football team in college football ever. LSU has been known for years as being DBU. He stepped in and ended up being a solid contributer in the defensive backfield for that team. Remember, he was hurt earlier in the year. That takes a special kind of athlete.

Now, let's keep that in mind and move to baseball. He supposedly turned down big money to come to LSU. The MLB doesn't pay massive money to kids they aren't sure about. I think it's going to click for him sooner than we think it should click for the average player.

Just a hunch.

I had fun bookmarking all the "CPM should retire" or "LSU isn't making a regional" threads during the 2017 season. Here's hoping for a repeat.

Another year of not hitting. Just tired of the same ol’ same ol’ from Paul. Retire already.

It 5 inning scrimmages where the hitters are seeing a pitcher for 2 innings max. Do you think we are going to rake against fresh pitchers?

And you say “another year” like Paul’s teams never hit well. We are usually among the best hitting SEC teams.

If Mathis can keep up what he’s been doing in scrimmages then there’s no way he leaves the 3 hole.

Have to rely on pitching this year and Cabrera,Mathis,Garza,Beloso and Bianco hitting bombs. This team will not hit for a high batting avg.

Why don't you just do yourself, and mainly the rest of this board, a favor? Don't watch this baseball season. Pull against this team. Don't be a fan. That way we don't have to listen to your constant BS all year. When this team is good, don't come back and pretend you were a fan all along. If they aren't good, and when they have a new coach, you can come back and pretend to be the avid fan you pretend to be on this board.

Deal?

We see that every year. So many fans who don't start watching until the regionals. Then when we don't end up where we wanted, they all want to fire CPM. Typical.

Stats would say Marceaux looked great, how’d he look in person? Did he get to use his new breaking ball?

I only saw Landeaux pitch to 5 batters and he struck out 3 of them (Travinski, Cranford, Willis). The others were a fly out to CF (Garza) and a ground out to SS (Sanford). I wasn't in a position to see how good his breaking ball was. I wasn't aware that he has a slider now and I'll have to be looking for it the next time he is on the mound.

Thanks, Scuba.

Yeah, he apparently was having a lot of trouble with tipping his curveball to hitters when it came out of his hand so he replaced it with a slider that seems to be pretty effective.
