I remember skip would schedule several marquee matches up. Why we don’t schedule more quality ooc weekend series at the box?

We just beat a top ranked team. If we scheduled a top quality weekend series, yall would be asking why we’re booking challenging teams. These weekends are for learning about what you have.

Was the SEC as dominant back then as it is today?

LSU plays Florida, Arky, Vandy, and Tenn all in a row. I think they should maybe have some scheduling breaks.

….. marquee match ups.

We do. We save them for the second half of the season and then post season.

when Skip was coach, Miss St was the only other school in the SEC that was a big time baseball school.

now you have Ole Piss, Vandy, Arky, Florida, and Texas and OU incoming.

so while we don’t have the 2-3 big name OOC schools anymore, we’ve added twice as many big time SEC teams.

Meh not really true, Georgia was good in the early 90's, Alabama in the late 90's and Florida all throughout the 90's.

Regardless, baseball scheduling for the big southern and California teams these days is pretty standard across the board. One weekend where you play in an invitational with other decent/big teams, the rest of the OOC is against northern schools who can only play on the road this time of year.

LSU needs to start hosting either the Wally Pontic Jr classic or do what they did back in the 80’s and 90’s when they hosted 3 out of state opponent's (superdome) top competition and only have to use 1 non Conference weekend.

Help my memory, who did we play those years? You're talking pre-SEC games, right?
