rankings this early in the year are hard to get too worked up about

A&M was #1 last pre-season.

That’s silly unless the National Champion is bringing back everyone.

UCLA returned most of their contributing players from a CWS team. It’s perfectly logical to have them at 1.

Normally I’d agree, but that UCLA team was fairly average.

They were one of the last 6 teams standing.

average how? They’re probably playing in the championship series last year if they weren’t on LSU and Arky’s side of the bracket. They’re going to be a top 2-3 national seed come selection time.

This is the 2026 season rankings not the final 2025 season rankings. We are #1 or 2 in every poll.

Rankings could not matter any less until seeding comes around.

Uh…. So did the defending National Champions

No we didn’t. Doesn’t mean we didn’t return good players. But if you count brown we returned 4 starting position players and 1 starting pitcher. UCLA returned 7 position players and 3 starters. Preseason ranking rarely reflect the actual best team, so it doesn’t really matter. But that sort of returning production from a CWS team is practically unheard of.

That UCLA pitching staff seemed really overrated last season once it got to Omaha. I'm not saying they were bad, but definitely not worthy of the hype.

They lacked a true number 1. They essentially had 3 SEC Sunday starters. And it made it to where they used the shite out of their bullpen. By the end of the season they were gassed. They brought in a pitcher from the portal as their Friday guy and a freshman is supposed to step into their weekend rotation after being an early round pick and not signing. That will push everyone else back a role which will really up their pitching.

Poll rankings have literally nothing to do with seeding

You are seeded based on your win loss ranking. As in where you rank in wins and losses. Which is why I said it doesn’t matter until that point. So do please try and correct me with something else.

wait till baseball America starts putting out their rankings and then you have to question if the voters are even following the right sport.

shite D1 isn't much better. A&M had to be eliminated from postseason contention before they dropped them from the top 25 last season. Same with UF, it's like they refuse to believe they might not be good.

I’m sorry this escaping you. You understand that a rank in something is not just an arbitrary position given to something by the media correct?

This thread is about poll rankings which never matter ever. Are you talking about seeding?

Obviously that’s what I’m talking about. That’s why I said “ranking could not matter less (this is in respect to the topic of rankings) until seeding comes around (this is in respect to seeding for the tournament which is the only ranking/seeding that matters).”

Cheers man have a good night.
