Coach Johnson himself has said it will be a rotation of the top 3 at the beginning of the season.

Personally, I think it is telling that the two times I saw Shores pitch in the Fall and then when he pitched on Jan 25th, Priester was the catcher. Whether Coach J is using Shores to improve his catching or solidifying the pitcher/catcher relationship remains to be seen. CJJ loves his offense and Priester hit very well in the Fall.

Is this a new term for blocking? If so, I’m for it.

Love your previews TYFYS.

When we signed Priester he was the number 1 rated JUCO catcher, Arrambide was a big draft risk and we didn't know what we had with Hernandez.

Priester crushed the ball in JUCO and the fall. His defense is getting a bad rep because the Rant is like high school where we find someone to pick on and it gets blown out of proportion. He certainly has a few brain farts back there but he has a strong arm and can move a little. I would rate his defense higher than Travinski. I don't see him as a defensive liability as our third catcher. He will do just fine in a limited role. We might get the occasional passed ball but lets not categorize him as terrible.

Costello had a couple of nice digs at first base yesterday. He is a good prospect at first base.

Starting to think 1B is the answer and DH if that doesn't work out. Doesn't have the speed or range to play corner OF, hasn't played C since college (unless a team takes him as a project), 3B is intriguing...if a team placed him there they'd need to be patient.

You’re wrong on this one. The defense isn’t SEC caliber and if you can’t see that I don’t know what to tell you.

What he did in the fall has zero correlation with now. That has been proven season after season

I'm a little surprised the opportunity to play 3rd or Catcher wasn't part of the deal to get him to return

PP7 you are not the only one who has noted his experience with the PR National team as helpful. Project said he made some nice strides during that time as well.

To be 80, you have to be in the top 1% of exit speeds consistently. Would anyone like to guess where Jones is?
