I apologize. Didn't have my computer on me.
By the way...I really struggled with roles in the bullpen this year. I'm seeing alot of guys who will see alot of innings and alot of guys who won't see innings and it's directly tied to how deep the starting pitching is.

Just insert Riley Cooper three times a week and sort out the rest later.

What's up with Noot, is he injured?

Noot, Applebey and Bollman are out for the year.

In addition to this, Coleman is still questionable at this point. Roster management will depend on Coleman's status. If he is out for the year then they are at the right roster size. If he is part of the 35 man, someone will have to take a redshirt to get to the number needed.

There are a number of freshmen arms who I could see them asking to take a redshirt.
Coleman is an arm I would want towards postseason.

I believe Jay said they'll know more about Coleman this week or next. He was tossing up to 90 ft, but they wanted to get him onto some flat ground, short pen work to see how he responded.

Absolutely. It will all depend if he will be healthy enough by then. Unfortunately, they will have to make that decision by the end of next week.
Agree that multiple freshman arms can redshirt. Someone like Primeaux or Bronzini.

They have so many talented pitchers this year, and I expect for that to be a trend. I would think that Guidry getting innings on the mound would mean that he was stalling for playing time as a position player and/or they had some injuries on the mound. And, I guess the only other reason would be that Jay was missing some kind of role guy on the mound, such as a stopper or closer (i.e. he had a bunch of starters, bridges, matchup guys).
I love 2 way players, btw. I'm all for Guidry doing it.
guidry was an awesome pitcher in hs, but he was also injury proned when doing so. i beleive much of that comes from being way too thin and weak in the posterior chain.
so i doubt they allow him to get innings unless his progress has stalled on the infield and they dont feel like he can play there or until he gains some weight and strength and shows he can remain healthy.
i highly doubt they want to take a chance of him hurting the back again.

Micah Bucknam out of Canada was impressive during his 2022 MLB draft league where he put up impressive numbers. Nothing in terms of tools wows you but he misses bats and is able to keep hitters off balance with a slurve and cutter that he has been learning over the past year. One of those guys that plays to contact and will pitch alot of innings for LSU this year.
Sounds like another Ma'Khail Hilliard?

this is in regards to Coleman taking a roster spot which will force a player to redshirt.
Bay, I wonder how the rule works. In football a redshirt player is determined to have been awarded a redshirt after the season. Why can't Jay hold off playing a fringe roster-spot guy until late April or May. At the same time he keeps this redshirt candidate on the bench, J. Coleman does not pitch. Doing so leaves two options for the stretch run: J. Coleman eventually plays in an effort to be an Omaha piece or J. Colman gives up on participating in '23. If it's the ladder (Coleman can't go) then the other guy whom Jay has asked to hold off playing then can A) continue to not play and keep the year, or B) play because we have the roster spot seeing as Coleman couldn't return to form in time to help us in the post-season.
You're saying a call has to made on this a week from tomorrow?

You have to set your roster before the start of the season. You can’t carry an unlimited amount of players.

Are we relaying pitches to the catcher/pitcher on watches this season?
Posted on 2/9/23 at 12:24 pm to DRock88
with the emphasis on the pitch clock it wouldn't surprise me

I heard this yesterday, and was surprised that nobody had mentioned it here yet
