Even if he was there all the time, i still believe crews to be the better prospect

I would still like to see Hampton, Gio, And Crews in the out field. Let Beloso DH

The others are right Hampton is not going to progress with the limited at bats he’s getting while not in football. He needs reps and is not getting them right now.

Based off of their skills right now I would agree. I think Hamptons potential is at least as high as Crews. He just needs a lot of development.

Crews is more of a sure thing but Hampton could be just as good in the end if he focuses on baseball

Beloso should be serviceable in the outfield. He's alot more athletic than he gets credit for, even at his former weight. He can be awkward at times, but I think he'll be fine. He has to be in the lineup somewhere.

I wish Gio would develop into the leadoff hitter but I don't think he's there yet. Maybe this is the year. He's a huge asset in the OF, mainly bc of how much ground he covers.

I'm really excited about Crews, as is everyone in and around the program. And, for good cause. He's above average at everything, borderline elite at everything. I really hope he proves to be a power bat that we sorely need.

Hampton should be interesting. He was meh last year, but hardly got to really dial in. He should be able to put his best foot forward this year. An OF with Gio and Hampton in it will cover ALOT of ground. Gio, Hampton, Crews may be the best defensive lineup that we could put together.

Drost should also be interesting. Very sound baseball player.

The OF, like the IF, is very deep with alot of options. But, as is also true about the IF, they will need to find the right combo of defense and offense. With 18 games (hopefully) before conference starts, it should be fairly obvious what works and what doesn't...as long as the pitching staff is as advertised - we can make adjustments, while leaning on the pitching staff.

Early season at bats will be big for Hampton. I hope they will get him in the lineup enough for him to get comfortable. Someone with that skill set could be a HUGE piece to this team.

This would be great for defense, but you’d be trading Dugas’ bat for Hampton’s, and that would kill some rallies. In 250 ABs, hitting 0.100 higher, Dugas would have 25 more hits. Would Hampton reach 25 more fly balls?

Early on you might be losing a little bit at the plate with Hampton. But if he is able to get the at bats he needs to settle in early, then they will be able to reap the benefits later in the season and in SEC play when it really matters.

Another strategy for mo would be as a defensive/baserunning replacement in the latter third of games that we've got a lead in. He'd get a chance for at bats and get to utilize his defense. wouldn't get a chance to really get into a rhythm that way but sporadic opportunities are better than none. Beloso is probably the obvious choice to sub out or at least move out but I guess it would depend on a number of factors.

Leads me to another thought, could beloso play 3rd if necessary?

And just for the sake of creating another talking point, what are yalls all-defense and all-offensive lineups?

I’m not taking Beloso’s bat out of any game that could come down to a late pressure AB

I guess in that situation you could run Hampton for Beloso then slide Beloso over to first and sit Tre.

If we hit like I hope we hit this year it’s going to be hard to find Hampton many ABs

You do realize Beloso is left handed? I hope you are one calling for PM’s firing 10 games into the season

I was thinking more that beloso could be moved from OF to 1b or DH, but you still could theoretically sub him out entirely depending on the circumstances. More just spit balling it as a possibility that could get mo some playing time. I'm not making any million dollar decisions here. Just happy that baseball is returning.

Adam, you're obviously in the know more than I am. I would have thought Edwards and Ty Floyd would have been our midweek starters and Money would be more of a back end guy. How do you see Floyd fitting in the pitching staff?

Based on the stats from @LSUbaseballdata (the only ones available since fans aren't allowed at the scrimmages), Money threw 3 innings in a scrimmage the other day. That tells me they're trying to stretch him out for a starting role, at least early.

Ty Floyd to me has always been the top pitcher in the class to make it to campus and he's going to have more of an impact as a set up guy.

I do think he'll become a starter next year.

And like project said Money is being groomed into a starter.

I think so too. Don’t want to risk blowing out the bullpen on opening night
