Can you point me to the point in time when LSU was ever a "step child" in baseball?

Some of these M F'ers should post less maybe discover a different hobby.

We at least hung in there and won an awesome pitcher's duel in game 1. Hess looked SUPERB... that's something to be positive about.
Then, if that two run homer doesn't get robbed yesterday, we are likely winning that game. All of the talk would have shifted to be about how awesome we are playing.
Yes, I know, it didn't happen... but, it wasn't like we got destroyed 8-1 in the games we lost. Hang in there man!

Probably the best pitching we’ll see all year. Georgia is a legit top 10 or 15.

When I first posted this OP, I noticed there was not one single thread about LSU Baseball on page 1 of the Rant. This seemed wrong to me, since our baseball team is one of the main jewels of LSU sports. And everything there practically was bashing Vitale, bashing the LSU AD, bashing FKA. Blasting ESPN. Supporting or blasting WW. Speculating if he would or wouldn’t coach at LSU anymore. Speculating as to whether JA would be fired. Speculating on candidates for hypothetical AD opening at LSU. Business as usual on The Rant. I was bored and wanted us to at least remember we have a baseball team, and that they are still playing. So I posted my OP.
Now I can say, thanks to the ones always so quick to bash other TR posters for some perceived stupidity, that we have remembered baseball. And for at least two pages worth on my OP, it’s been enlightening. Mission accomplished.
Thanks, Ranters, for being so easy. We do eat our own.

Honestly, that series could have went either way. I'm proud of the team for fighting against a good team on the road.
On the bright side, Hess and Henry looked fantastic. The bullpen needs to take some shape, and the coaches have to figure out who to use when. And, we desperately need a 3rd starter to emerge - Hill coming back will help, along with others getting healthier throughout the year.
On the negative side, we just haven't hit consistently well. We look good at times and real bad at times. Coaches need to find the right combinations, but the players need to step up, too. My main concern is the lack of RH hitting - as shown, good pitchers will get in a groove when they don't see diversity in a lineup.
As was at the beginning of the season, the sky is the limit with this team. You can't just show up and expect to win in the SEC, though. You need to perform, stay healthy, and catch some breaks along the way.

I love LSU baseball. I’ll support them no matter how bad they are.
Yes I think our coach is a dweeb, and wish I could change 20 things about him, but I’ll still be there supporting the team.
This is the first year I’ve watched more than one basketball game since Shaq was here.

Can I have your tickets for the A&M series?

I am still a diehard baseball fan...not nearly as much as I was 10 years ago. Mainly because there are so many dipshits who watch baseball and couldn't care less about the other sports. I sat next to people for years who griped every inning and then win SR and it's "Omaha! Omaha!" I swear some of these fans just want people to know that they were able to drive their motorhome to Nebraska. And one other thing...the biggest chicken Littles are baseball fans. By far. Insufferable. More titles combined than Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, State, A&M, UGA, and Florida...and 4-2 in the SEC is disastrous. The horror!
Holy shite....this is the most truth I have ever witnessed in 1 post on this board ever. Very well done.
When I go to games, I tend to sit in different areas of the park and no matter where I sit, there is always one dipshit who is within earshot who ALWAYS criticizes the coach. No matter what Mainieri does, it's wrong.
shite gets old.

They are good but we'll face the two best pitchers we'll see all year this week/weekend.

Losing the UGA series was major setback.
What a nonsense post. Baseball is a marathon not a sprint. It's a game of streaks, good and bad. There is talent on this team. The offense is a concern but I can remember other times when the Tigers offense looked down early in the season and then turned it up in the stretch.
Too early to worry.

You can always tell the posters who doesnt follow baseball. It seems we take the same path to the postseason every year. The last time LSU was at this point in the season with this record and Hess and Walker dealing like they were this past weekend, we made it to the national championship.
Its way too early in the season to be melting about not hosting a regional, not hitting well, arms out, etc. but happens every year at this time. We were in the national championship game less than 2 years ago and finished #2 in the country with a national seed in 2017.
Even if we lose the series to Miss St this weekend losing back to back series on the road against top 5 SEC teams is not a major setback. Just puts us in the same position we were in the last time we made it all the way.

I agree with the premise of your post but in 2017 at this time of year Hess was struggling in midweek starts and Walker was a complete unknown, Lange and Poche were up and down and then we sucked for the next few weeks before turning it around.
