I can assure you that Man of La Mancha is not one of their songs this year.

Email the band director, let him know, or put in an application for the position so you can change things. Or tell the student section to stop being immature pricks and let the Band play awesome songs without them screwing them up.
Also, trumpets don't add power, they add brightness and cut through with the melody, low brass (Tubas, baritones) add power.

Band vs. Piped-in Music is Over for me now.....
Because people used to yell"a-hole - a-hole" during the refrain. It offended the politically correct crowd, so they banned it!
They had brought it back though - have they taken it out again? Is a-hole really that bad of word? It's a great song and they should play it. Or be assholes and don't play it.

Speaking of that, why they hell don't they play tiger rag anymore?
They literally play it after every touchdown---the important part anyway.

TGBFTL has no swag. Needs to borrow a few arrangements from SU.
This. This sounds like "Drumline" when the fans were tired of the band getting their arse kicked week after week. This band needs a Devin Miles that'll go out of the box and start playing some new shite

We can't play "Tiger Rag"

Southern Miss played John Cena's intro and Ole Miss played the GOT theme

I can't stand the blaring piped in music. I sat with friends in the north end zone last night and at times, the volume of the canned music reached migraine-producing levels. That said, it's gotten to the point where you can't hear the band anymore when they play in the stands. Maybe the choice of music has something to do with it or maybe it's due to the decrease in size. Can we mic them up?
Saw what happened over the "Visiting Band can't Perform" BS. They changed that very quickly.
TGBFTL was on a steady descent ever since they gave RK the permanent job, (After a 1 year Interim) but instead of conducting a national search for a talented and experienced marching band director, LSU just got lazy and gave the permanent job to King.
Then after the 5 year decline, all the BS popped up with Roy and now we've got another "Interim" GBFTL Director this year. Roy got royally screwed over in that mess, but it was time for him to go anyway. Sometimes things have a way of working themselves out.
There's always a little drop off when a new regime comes in after a controversial firing takes place. Yes, Brass is way down this season. Will take a little while to build it back up.
The shows have improved somewhat this season under Llinas, but don't know if he has what it takes to get the gig permanently. (Just like in football with O currently and with RK 5 years ago)
LSU really does need to return to the previous administrative organization whereby the head "Director of Bands" is also the head GBFTL Director and also in charge of the Symphonic Bands. That's the only way you'll be able to hire a really good "Band Nick Saban" type. Would have to send Talley and Queen packing though. (Head Director of Bands/Music School Dean)
Do that and you could legitimately have a shot at getting Moorhouse back in here or hiring the "Band Nick Saban" type. (Like a Ken Bodiford of Jacksonville State)

No lie, that John Cena theme was awesome. I've noticed more bands started playing this. Also heard the Stone Cold Theme last night during the game

See I don't really agree with this. Wickes was an outlier in this regard (and Linda ran Tiger Band really, Wickes was just there during rehearsals). Many Head Directors at the great Schools of Music with awesome marching bands have nothing to do with the marching band at all.

This is the dumbest thing I've ever read.

Let's be real here, they need to blow like SU and the HBCU schools. None of these schools need piped in music, there's honestly people that go to the game to see just the bands. I remember when SU came to Cajun Field, that stadium was packed and became one of their largest sellouts

And yet it's true. Trumpets will not add a full, powerful sound. More trumpets might make the band louder somewhat but low brass is what adds the bottom, full sound that everyone wants. Some more trumpets WILL help the band cut through some in the stadium though, but that's not "power" per se.
Signed,
A Band Director with a Masters in Music Education.

I must have missed this...what showtune? Seems like the band never plays anymore i only get to watch the opponents band play every 3 seconds.

BTW did this get the defense as hyped as the fricking student section starting the god damn flashlight shite with the opponent on our 2 yard line in the 1st qtr?

Things an ingnorant dumbass like you don't know:
One of the long-time staples of LSU music palyed by TGBFTL for several generations now is "Hey, Fighting Tigers":
quote:Just so we're clear on this, the world didn't start when you were born and you didn't invent music.
(In 1962, at the request of Athletics Director Jim Corbett, LSU Director of Social Recreation Gene Quaw adapted the original composition of the Broadway hit “Hey Look Me Over” from the musical Wildcat to include LSU lyrics. “Hey Fighting Tigers” was played publicly for the first time at the opening game against Texas A&M, in honor of coach Charles McClendon’s first game at LSU.)

Oh, so does that mean that the band should play Showtunes to fire up the defense?
This is an LSU board, not San Fransico State!
GEAUX TIGERS!!!!
