Just being devil's advocate as I think we're better than them, but that's why. #5 is aggressive though. They have, up until this point, had a very high SOS. We have one of the hardest, if not #1, going forward.
To OPs point, we should be happy about this.

You could maybe argue that they had tougher opponents in their losses with GA/Tenn, but we are splitting hairs as LSU has also lost to 2 teams that are in the top 10.
My main point is that having them at 5 with us at 14 because of the explanation above just doesn't add up. They should be above us, sure.
But like yourself, OP, and myself added in this thread, It doesn't matter and I'm good with it.

Well if we don't double digit bama they're getting in at 12. No reason to be 5 in the first place.

Thats an optimistic view. In reality what the committee decided to do is make it possible for Texas Prancers and Alabama to stay in the top 12 with 3 losses and NOT for LSU.

Texas will be closer just because the Bama game is going to take a lot out of this team probably. Otherwise, I agree that we would roll Texas. Here’s to beating Bama comfortably through and getting to rest up a little vs Texas. While it sounds crazy, I would’ve never expected to roll Auburn like we did at Jordan Hare either. this season is #justdifferent

Agree, but understand that the committee ranked Gumps 5 because of their "signature" win over UK, while saying that Tenner's win over the Gumps was NOT a signature win because Tenner was not "highly ranked"? Tenner was placed in a "lower pod" than the Gumps because they had no other signature win. Talk about circular logic.
Still, I think this is good for LSU which has to win out to be in more likely than not.
