Waiting for the right stats on how Baker has fared against top 25 offenses this year

In the three games LSU played against top 25 defenses, the defense allowed:

24 points to Ole Miss (who averaged 37.5)
31 points to Vanderbilt (who averaged 39.4)
42 points to Texas A&M (who averaged 33.8).

So, there was one outlier game where the offense melted down and put the defense on the field over and over and over again with short fields. The other two, LSU held those offenses more than a score below their average.

And in none of those games did LSU have a healthy Whit Weeks, the leader of the defense. The only one he did play in, with a broken ankle, LSU held the best offense they played all year to 24 points.

Sorry your gay little narratives don't fit when an ounce of nuance is involved.

The more you upvote your own posts and downvote my posts, the gayer you look, by the way.

Baker has been overrated since he arrived at LSU. It’s good that he’s staying so there’s continuity on that side but he is not worth the $3 million a year they’re paying him.

So...32.3 PPG against top 25 offenses. Even worse than 30 PPG. Pretty shitty

We held the #8 scoring offense in the country (#4 in SP+ offense) to their 3rd-lowest point total of the year, and the #10 scoring offense in the country (#3 in SP+ offense) to their lowest point total of the year.

Well the 65th offense just ran all over bakers defense and completed passes with ease. Because baker sucks balls.

A&M loss is definitely not on the defense lol. The offense was horrible. The Defense gifted them turnovers and great field position in the first half. The offense could not score bc play calling was shite and dropped passes. The team quit on BK in the 2nd half and it showed.

Vandy was not about scheme of the defense but players not having containment on their assignments. Many times the LBs would run into each other on inside and allow Diego to run outside. Also the offense could not do anything. No sustained drives. Any time that had a nice play it was called back for holding.

Game against Houston is bc the offense became the offense of entire season and defense is missing basically entire LB and DB starters. Plus some DL. It is the backups who were backups for reasons.

sometimes throwing a shite ton of money at someone to fix a problem doesn’t always work out

also, sometimes trash talking another fanbase (Irish/mizzu/ole miss) because we stole their coach thinking that person will have the same success if not better at lsu reeks of karma waiting to happen

Now tell me what they avg against every other team. If it's lower than these numbers that would mean Blake is the best coordinator those teams faced all year which would also mean he's not overrated.

I’ve said this several of times he’s a one trick pony if his blitzes aren’t getting home the defense will get shredded

The question is irrelevant. Or—are you suggesting he should have been terminated as well?

People are freaking out because we have lost for offensive lineman on a unit that was horrible.

Imagine the freak out if we had lost a couple of the defensive line commits on signing day and I had lost three or four of next season's expected starters on defense?

Lane Kiffin knows, Blake Baker in ways we never will. He has actually had to game plan against him.

If Baker sucks next year, Kiffin will do what he has to do.

Overrated or not, he was necessary to keep on staff for 2026. That went a long way to leveling the curve of the hill ahead.

The guy was without 6 starters on D. All of which will be playing on Sundays. I will give him a pass on this one.

He is very overrated by LSU fans but still solid.

He relies on the blitz, which is a losing formula in modern football. Good offenses and well-coached offenses can deal with the blitz.

Exactly. He has to grown and learn.

Blitzing works against bad teams but good teams will carve it up. It's just something he has to learn and evolve.

Yes, he was kept because it would have been horrible optics to lose the best player in the country out of your own backyard a few days before early national signing day. This is why Baker was kept! Just like why Ole Miss hired Golding. To keep most of the team together. It doesn’t mean they were the right people for the job. Baker is trash.

Baker didn’t miss a single tackle, that I can recall. He was trying to coach dumb arse players who confirmed last night they really didn’t give a shite.

It’s not just the coaches.
