Baker has stopped Reed a grand total of four times since he entered the game in 2024.

Excluding end of half kneel downs:
15 total drives:
10 TDs, 1 FG. Scoring 73% of the time.
The four stops were 2 punts and 2 interceptions.
The first interception was when they went on a 7-play, 72-yard drive and they were on our 3-yard line, so A&M already drove the length of the field.
The second punt came when A&M was up 42-18 in the 4th quarter and the game already in hand.
This is a huge game for him and people will have every right to continue to question him if we see this trend continue.

A&M has taken a pretty significant step back offensively, if he can't scheme something up to stop this offense some serious conversations will be had.

I have no idea how to feel about Baker going forward.
Every time I completely buy in to him being an elite defensive mind, we have a game where he reminds me he’s not.

Kentucky and ASU were able to make him a below average QB. If baker lets him run all over us a 3rd year in a row he needs his head on a pike

You are not wrong, but I’m still optimistic about this week. If we can’t stop the Aggies on Saturday, then there is big reason to worry.

Last year Reed went 12/21 with 202 yards, 2 TDs, and 2 ints but he also ran for over 100 yards and 2 TDs. The year before he went 2/2 for 70 yards and ran for 62. A&M ran all over us that game.
I know most aren't happy with the defensive scheme that was run out for Chambliss but I really think its a great scheme to run against Reed. Reed isn't making most of the throws that Chambliss made saturday night, especially not in third and long situations.
Bring pressure selectively, but maintaining the edges and forcing Reed to beat you with his arm should be the gameplan

I’m not saying Baker is trash, at all. But has he ever had a 4 quarter domination against a good opponent? Maybe I’m forgetting a game.
I also thought the first half of ole miss was borderline unacceptable. I know Chambliss is good but holy hell, you gotta have some type of answer to that.

Lane admitted the first half defensive approach was on him. It was his idea. Baker went to his plan in the second half.

This is the game I grade baker. If he can’t stop Reed this year I’m done. Reed cannot pass. He lacks weapons. We have defenders to stop his run. It’s now or never.

I'm almost there as well. But TC6 is a great qb and makes decisions quickly and can run. So he is a handful for any defense.
The scheme to contain TC6 in the 1st half can work on Reed. Reed is not Chambliss and not close on his decision making speed and accuracy.
But if the D can't shutdown Reed, it will be a long year.
I suspect CLK had a lot to do with the scheme to just contain Chambliss in the 1st half.

I agree. Chambliss is a real QB. While I disagreed with the 1H strategy and believes you mix it up against that type of guy because they will carve the same thing up over and over. At least if he runs you gas him a little and get a few hits. They sit back a dissect your is worse.

Offense should have the ability to keep pace and outscore A&M. Should have in 2025 but BK was a goof along with his offensive staff.
Limit the easy points and just score points on offense. Get the other team out of their set offense. That is what needs to happen.

He’s never coached a top 20 defense, where would anyone get this idea?
