Honestly, I'm happy about this. Good result for BK in his first two years.

Next year the expectation should be making the playoffs, no excuse with the 12-team playoffs now announced.

This a rational and reasonable opinion. Prepare to be mocked for it.

Definitely some rebuilding needed and hard to complain going 9-3 back to back after a .500 and sub .500 season.

Do agree expectations from here on out will be making that expanded 12 team playoff each year. I wouldnt call a season a failure if we go 10-2 or 9-3 and miss the playoff but would be slightly disappointing. We just cant regress is all, and that might be difficult to fight against with how bad the defense was and the offensive weapons we choose, but thats the job the HC has to take on and attack.

1 thing that would immediately help is dont lose the opening game against USC next season. Starting the seaosn in a hole the last several years has been difficult to overcome.

Sure, but it means even less with a 12 team playoff

We are on the right track… but we need to keep trending upward. If we are 9-3, okay. But I sure as hell don’t ever want to be 8-4, and I want to be 10-2 sooner than later.

If other schools have standards like that and higher… then we should too. We are a national championship winning program.

But no improvement from year 1 to year 2.

Even though the regular season record is the same as year 1, I like that our team was better this year by pretty much all the advanced metrics.

10th in SP+ and 7th in FEI is pretty good for year 2. Time to take the next step and push into the top 5.

A 10-2, 6-2 SEC LSU has a much greater shot of getting in a 12-team playoff than a 9-3, 6-2 LSU

Only Alabama has more titles than LSU this century and LSU-Bama matchup puts more players into the NFL than any other college duo.

Yet how many 10-win regular seasons do we have in the past decade? One. I really wish we could expect 10-win regular seasons on the reg. Vegas sets the over/under on Bama/Georgia at 11 or 11.5 each year. We’ve been lucky to win 9, so I am happy with the results under CBK. I hope he can at least return us to the standard of 10-win seasons though soon too. That’s my expectations for him as we come up to year 3-4 under him. Every other coach we’ve had so far this century has managed to bring home the hardware.

be careful - I said virtually the same thing recently and got blasted for it.

Lots of people on this board are just fine with 9-3 or 8-4 because we were bad in the 1990s, or something.

9 win seasons should never be celebrated at LSU

It was not a successful season when you look at the caliber of the team and the expectations that were set. You have a Heisman caliber player that likely won’t win the award because of how shitty we played on defense. This team’s absolute floor was 9-3. Likely should’ve been a 10-2 team at worst. That should be criticized and not glossed over.

It’s easy to forget the embarrassment that took place in Orlando and in Oxford. If the defense didn’t take a HUMILIATING step back, BK would be right on track. But with how bad the defensive staff has been on the field and in recruiting, you need to blow it up and restart. That side of the ball has been horribly mismanaged since BK has arrived.

I don't really see anyone celebrating ITT. Just people fairly happy with how things have gone so far, while expecting it to continue to build to bigger and better things.

Not entirely true. The offense with returning players saw drastic improvement. The defense with mostly new personnel was way worse. Its a mixed bag, but you have to give some credit along with the criticism.

If the 12 team playoff was this year, LSU would be on the bubble. Win the Ole Miss game and we are a lock

I agree however, in 3 or 4 years, we could be looking back and saying how big of a blown opportunity it was having an all time bad defense when an average to below average defense easily wins us the National Championship this season.

Offense will be worse and defense will be better. Harder schedule. May be lucky to get to 9
