The press release announcing Scott's firing literally says, "Executive Deputy Athletic Director Verge Ausberry will serve as Interim Director of Athletics, effective immediately, and will lead all facets of the athletic department, including the search for the next head football coach."
The BOS just said at the presser that there is no timetable for hiring an AD and they are focused on hiring a HC

Of course that what the press release says. But we will have a new AD selected by Tuesday with formal introduction no later than Thursday. Football HC search may drag in to January depending on who LSU is targeting.
Augsberry will have input but the new President and AD and boosters will all have far more sway than he does.

Doesn't the same LSU BOS hire the president? If so, you don't think they have say and can stipulate who is doing what? Why would they say Verge will work with the BOS to hire the next football coach and then cede any of that responsibility over to the next AD even if a president is announced next week? It certainly doesn't make them look smart or strong to do either and not live up to their own public statements. Essentially, the BOS coaching search committee with Verge will be running the show no matter who the president is or the AD for that matter.

Right. They obviously feel comfortable with him enough to let him lead this charge, even if its optics driven. The AD hire won't be as easy as we're trying to make it.
And if you're really considering the SLU AD, then you have to consider Ausberry.
He gives both, comfort and buys them time. He has a vested interest. As it's his program, figuratively and literally lol

Holy hyperbole. He did no such thing,. Verge is a solid guy. And it's not like he's the only decision maker for new coach. He's leading the search.
