Don’t be dumb. Why is it all of a sudden cool to hate on everything LSU? How many of you criticizing our band were ever actually in Tiger band? Those kids put in a shite ton of work to support this university, beginning with fall camp, which usually are 12+ hour days. I’ve been through it. It’s grueling.

I don’t think anyone is blaming the band members but the decisions from the directors and other higher ups. They have a lot of potential and I think they sound great but I’m not personally a fan of the constant Latin and gimmicky halftime shows.

Instead, we hired that pompous arse as director.

I don't know Dr. Jones personally, so I can't speak to that, but I do know that, prior to coming to LSU, he had never been in charge of a major college marching band before.

I’m starting to realize LSU fans love to say and hear about how much they suck. The band has been pretty damn good all year IMO

Hostile takeover from the school of music? Lol what are you talking about. The SOM and Tiger Band are much less related than you think. Changes for better or worse are more related to the recent shuffling of band directors in the last several years. Following Roy King’s firing.

One major issue is that there’s someone on staff listed as “assistant director of bands” that doesn’t even have a music degree. That’s the tip of the iceberg as far as that specific issue is concerned.

On TV all I heard was the LSU band the whole game and it was cool

That's the whole point. TGBFTL isn't a show band like Southern or aTm. They do their thing in-game.

Auburn band Dad, LSU alum (thanks, Piyush!) Objectively, LSU was louder but we were directly across from them and angled from Auburn. Also thought LSU had the better halftime show, but Auburn just learned that one and put it in this week. They didn’t even move on the second song. Closing with pre-game set the tone for the second half. FWIW, the Auburn band hates Harsin too b/c he stepped all over their traditions and has PA pump noise over them while they are playing in order to make it louder. So maybe they didn’t bring their A game trying to help him find his way back to Idaho. They did have the whole stadium singing along to ‘Friends in Low Places’ and ‘Livin’ on a Prayer,’ which may be an apt metaphor for Harsin’s tenure on the Plains. They also do an awesome job with ‘Africa’ and have caused more negative yardage than the entire Auburn defense.

P.S. Only stat that matters:
Times played ‘Neck’:
Auburn 1
LSU 0

I was in the stadium and you’re full of shite. Our band dragged their nuts on theirs.

Uhhhh no, not even close. Auburn's band looked amazing and sounded even better. LSU was repeating a previous show and should of been much better, but it was NOT.

Wait, are you using the halftime show to compare the bands? Who cares? During the game, TGBFTL sounded great.

It was obvious to everyone in the stadium last night that the Auburn band is better in every way measurable than the LSU band.

It would be embarrassing if they weren’t since LSU pretty much brings a pep band like the ones at basketball games when they go on the road

Their decision to focus more on making stick figures rather than quality music is very disappointing.

Why not both?

I would say that the Auburn travel band is the best band to come to Tiger Stadium. Last year they played furiously the entire game and I feel it really helped fire up their team. Also, their fan know all the songs and cheers.

Wasn't obvious to me at all. I thought LSUs sounded better. Yes they did a repeat performance but that's normal for an away trip.

Hell Auburn ran ads during the middle of their halftime performance which I found odd. But even ignoring that I thought LSUs was objectively louder and better.

I'm guessing that's because of where you were sitting. Auburn's band has a MUCH bigger/better sound than LSU.

You can repeat this as much as you want, but it won't make it true.
