re: Athlon ranks Matt Canada 17th best coordinator hire this year. Ensminger unranked.

Pretty sure history will show that Canada was a better OC than what the Orgeron fan club is painting him to be right now. He made Etling look better than what he really is. It would be interesting to have seen what he could have turned LSU into with the amount of time and the same chance that O's fans are always saying O should be given.

I really hope O knows what he’s doing. My liquor cabinet is running really low.
Athlon absolutely blows. Every year there is so much incorrect information. Their assessments and analysis are even worse.
Canada runs a gimmick offense. Bielema didn't ask him to come with him when he left the Badgers for the Hogs. His NCSU coach fired him.
Orgeron's mistake wasn't firing him. It was hiring him.

Matt Canada & Athlon. Two losers.
Had Orgeron kept Matt Canada we would have lost Aranda.
Bye Matt.

Yup. I’m surprised that he didn’t have the team ranked in the top 20 of offense with a converted corner as the second receiver, the best offensive player hurt for half the season, and an offensive line anchored down on freshmen and first year starters.
Ironic how when the coach's name changes "excuses" become "explanations".

as many as Canada did. 1. Who has the better job right now?
Considering that Ensminger wasn’t getting OC offers anywhere else, this is not a good argument.

Ensmingers offense is going to be better than Canada’s was. Unfortunately the schedule is considerably tougher.
I’ve said it a few times, but I fully expect this team to be better than its record.

Excuses already.

Why would he get OC offers elsewhere, he hadn't done it permanently in a while and everyone knows he is settled at lsu. That said, doesn't mean he won't be an upgrade over Canada. Time will tell, but you go ahead and talk him down. It fits.

Well, you sure as hell don't know that it won't be. It won't take much. He did set several records working with an offense that wasn't his. Most are hopeful that when he gets his on scheme, it will be even better, and maybe give bama some fits this time around.
Do you disagree that the schedule is harder?
I haven't seen you on here much, so don't know what kind of poster you are without checking hostory, but you seem like a very positive, optimistic person.

Nobody cares about the motion master and his easy to defend wear a receiver out offensive philosophy

#12. Kendall Briles. Houston.
He was there for the taking and LSU stands still frozen in the headlights.
You snooze, you lose.
Ensminger better kill it this season or the total house cleaning and sanitation of LSU football will be under way before the end of the season.

Matt Canada promised a dynamic, inventive, unique offense and we did not get it last year. We got more of the same.
I’m not defending Canada here, but I do find it kind of funny that most of the people that bad mouth him now are the same ones that were puffing their chests out after the Alabama game last year about how we finally outgained them, if Etling could compete 2 or 3 deep balls we win, blah blah blah??
Was that in spite of Canada, or because of him, at least partly?
I mean, that was even the game that gave us the gift of the infamous “WE COMIN!!” gif from Orgeron himself because he was so convinced how close we were to catching up with them again.
Of course, he obviously meant in two years

Which begs the question: why didn’t O just stick with him out of the gate instead of wasting a season on Canada? All he had to do was remove the interim tag from E and we’d have had this great and competent coordinator running the offense.
Instead, he brought in Canada and led everyone to believe that he was the answer instead of the guy already on staff who had called the plays for him just the season before.
At best, this shows O as an incompetent program CEO.

Good grief! When are some of you guys going to let this die. The man was a cancer on the coaching staff, and that's been documented everywhere he has coached. And we (he) was horrible in the red zone!

Here comes the "he was forced to" crowd.
If that were to be true, I think it's bullshite to hire someone and then immediately tell them who to hire.

Canada was a bum.
Overrated in every facet. I'll go watch a high school game if I want to see 200 jet sweeps

Do I think LSU should have hired Ensminger? Absolutely not
Do I think we're probably better off with Ensminger over Canada? Yes

frick Canada. Offense was inept in the red zone and wasn't exactly tearing it up between the 20s either.
E may work, may not, but Canada wasn't a fit here.
