Publicly he wasn't a candidate, who knows what Alleva talked about behind closed doors. And you're right if Aranda had to be retained at all cost why not hire Aranda as HC.

Somebody has asked me earlier wy I thought TCU and Kasns were out recruiting LSU in their home state.SO here it is....
Justin Rodgers( Bossier City) 4* QB 4th rated pro QB Class (Committed to TCU)
Devonta Jason (New Orleans) 4* WR ranked 4th in the state (committed to Kansas)
Jamari Chase WR (Metairie) 4 * WR 6 rated WR in the state (Committed to TCU)
Corrine Harris 4* CB 7th player ranked in Louisianan's top 10/ Committed to KANSAS
Thats 4 of the top ten that are committed to KASNAS or TCU

We here is my question. If as you said they hired O just to keep Aranda. Why didn't LSU just hire Aranda as the HC. If LSU does bad the next couple of years it will be hard to again hire from within.
1) Internal Optics - You hire Ed as Interim Coach (where he does have actual experience) and he had he Associate Head Coach title, then promote someone under him? Politically not cool.
2) External Optics - Aranda is young and is unproven as a head coach. The problem - Ed is also unproven. So although this might have played into it, I'm sure it was a factor. At least Ed HAS been a head coach, even though he was a disaster.
3) Aranda really is leaving in the next 2-3 for the NFL, as soon as he gets a good offer and he made that clear to Alleva. We'd be right back in this situation.
quote:
If they do good, then there will not be a way to fire O and then promote Aranda. Am I wrong?
And this is why the plan stinks. O has to consistently hire the best coordinators in the country for this plan to work because 1) O does not seem like the hands on, teach my coaches how to grow and lead, as in, he can't hire a second tier coach and teach him to be great 2) He can't make up for deficiencies on either side of the ball. And if we're moderately successful, read: Miles level and below, we've already seen the excuses and backtracking, he'll be here forever.

Now, being a disaster as a head coach is seen as a advantage over a successful DC?
I am hoping O works out, but his hire was shocking for a football school of LSU's status.

You sir are a fricking idiot. You make up all this shite that is totally and absolutely not true and then become a defeatist/profit of doom over the very stupid bullshite you just made up.
Like I said earlier, the entertainment value of this website is priceless.
"Oh my god, the plan I just stupidly made up is true and sucks, the LSU football program is going into the crapper". Ha Ha Ha.
Bottom line, LSU may have the best coaching staff ever assembled. Will it be great? Who knows. Will it be better than the shite LSU has had the previous few years - Peveto, Craig, Juluke, Cameron? Hard not to be.
Make up some more doom and gloom bullshite and cry me a river. I love idiots like you. This board would suck without idiots.

Interesting and well thought out response. Very impressive.
Name the team with a better staff than O, Aranda and Canada - who was the only offensive Broyles Award candidate.
Go on, tell me.

Ever? shite man LSU has had better coaching staffs in the last 15 years. We had Saban and Jimbo on the same staff.
And I'm pretty sure you mean Canada and not Cameron, btw. Aranda is a great coordinator. Canada hasn't proven much of anything on the big stage but I like the hire and think he'll do well. It's pretty hilarious that you think it could be the best staff ever assembled though

Since you either can't read or comprehend, let me help you out. I said "MAY" have the best staff ever assembled. Keyword is "MAY" in this case. This "May" leaves time to be proven correct or incorrect.

Again, you either didn't read the question or are totally incapable of comprehending what you read. I asked this:

I really meant to name a team presently that has a better staff. Not some shite 15, 20 years or more in the past. I guess I should have expected feeble minds and said "NOW" with my question. Sorry !!!

Well you literally said LSU may have the best staff ever assembled and then moved the goal posts (as you always do) to make it a question of which current staff is better. Obviously that is matter of speculation and/or opinion. But I think having a career DL coach who failed in his only stint as a head coach running the show immediately precludes your staff from the discussion of best ever.
As far as a staff currently assembled that I'd rather over ours? Off the top of my head, I'll take Ohio State's staff with Urban Meyer and Greg Schiano.

We had a staff with Saban, Jimbo and Muschamp. This isn't even LSU's best staff since 2000.

If the plan is made up, then please fill me in on how Ed Ogeron approaches the game of football? What kind of overall gameplan is going to run? Are we going to focus on ToP? Field Position? Forcing Turnovers? Do tell.

How can it be both the best coaching staff ever assembled and possibly not great at the same time?
You do realize you kind of agree with me? Let me help you:
quote:
You could hire the most talented people in the world in whatever job you need. If you don't know how to develop and use those talents, then you are probably wasting everyone's time. Sure, they may be SO talented that they overcome the lack of foresight of the person who hired them, but that's rare and a huge risk.

What doom and gloom? Who's making stuff up now? Saying the plan sucks and O was a terrible hire is not doom and gloom, it's realism. I can very well be proven wrong. And that's ok too.
Posted on 7/4/17 at 4:53 pm to Freauxzen
What he is saying, by hiring O we have literally become mid SEC in coaching strength versus other schools with decent head coaches regardless of their staff.
