LSU side will be a cross between VT opener and NC opener with LSU doing what it does best under CLM and win on the big stage while showcasing the SEC superiority
You're proud of the NC win? Weren't they short 16 guys for that game and had to burn 8 red shirts just to get enough players to make a game of it?
As for VT, that was what? 4 years ago?
If you want to go that far back take a look at the highlights from the Oregon Oklahoma St game.

Well the UNC game was not a thing of beauty (except the first half when we had a 30-10 lead.)
But did we not also beat Alabama, Florida, West Virginia, Mississippi State, and Texas A&M?
Do those not count or something?

I think this game will be close if we can't pass! If we get the passing working with JJ then I think we will win by 10 or more! Oregon is VERY good especially on Offense. They have alot of skilled guys" but not as many as us". If this game was in the middle of our SEC schedule " hardest conference week in week out" I would be scared to death because of conditioning on top of injuries, but it's not and we have a year to prepare which will hopefully be enough for Chavis to have a plan. I'm not discrediting Oregon and Kelly does a great job getting the team to play as team. The speed we bring on Defense will be nothing like they've seen. The beat down y'all gave tenn. Came late in the third when Tenn finally wore down and your offense got rolling with great tempo. . The first half of the game tenn owned y'all. James had only 27 yds in the first half while Poole had 111 yds rushing in the first QUARTER!!

That Oregon St game that you Ducks keep bringing up about Serna missing 3 extra points or LSU would have lost...why don't you all ever mention if LSU hits those 2 FGs and not had that TD called back LSU would have won by a larger margin?
Not counting the extra point that's at least 12 additional points for LSU...if were going to bring up past games bring up every aspect of it...

what i don't see is how Oregon is so highly ranked after all they lost last year. they lost their only power running back, both WR's including their slow, honkey possession WR (Tuinei is good, though). I don't see any dominant size on the OL, any decent size on any RB or WR other than Tunei? I am like where is all this offense going to come from? If they can't run with power and get separation with tall WR's, then the plan must be to use their superior speed....oh, wait, we got dat, mo' dat.
Their rb's and wr's are all small (except tuniei), fast guys. Should be a busy day for our overloaded secondary, smallish LBs and quick DE's. As long as our DT's don't suck complete arse and can take their load of blockers.

If your LB's and DE's are so fast, how come no one except the homer faithful here on the Rant ever mentions it? They do talk about the Duck RB speed and overall team speed, but not the Tiger team speed, or if they do, it is not in a manner that would emphasize it. So who really says your D is fast besides you? I'd put big money on our RB's vs your DB's in a foot race. Your D-Line's new expression won't be 'Who Dat' (I have a Who Dat t-shirt by the way) but 'What Wazzat'.

You struggled with OS. No matter how you slice or dice it. I could point to all the point we left on the field against Auburn but no one buys it.

Yes LSU struggled but both teams did after playing in that slop after the monsoon hit...but LSU still won the game...
Didn't Oregon State beat Oregon 50-21 that same year?

i never said our lb's were quick. i said they were smallish, but we did take a safety and move him to middle lb, so he will have great speed, but small size, for his position. as far as our de's, we have a few speed rushers which can get rolled a little by dominant-size ol's (which ya'll have only one, ot about 323)in the running game, but who excel in containing the edges, making open field tackles on speedy rb's and sacking the qb on down and distance situations. check out sam montgomery on our roster. he got hurt in the middle of the season, but was already living up to his high school all-american hype. It would really be sad if his injury has affected his speed, because he was a joy to watch play. If you remember those tall, lanky, fast Florida de's from that first recent championship against OSU, that is how montgomery moves and plays. As far as speed of our defense, i am sure that every pre-season football publication is talking about it. they certainly are not going to be talking about the elite size or scheme of our defense.

Auburn was the 10th ranked scoring D in the SEC. Even if you left some points out there, that's still very unimpressive for such a "high-powered" offense.

Yes but Oregon left so many points on the field in that one too. it coulda, woulda, shoulda been 50-49
LSU won 9 games that year and lost the Capital One Bowl. I think the coach then was ah, ummm..
N-..Nick somebody ????

Still waiting for this answer...
Mainly because it matters for both teams this upcoming year.

Here is a little Diddy from our spring Cinditioning report in 2010! Cornerback Patrick Peterson was hand-timed at 4.2 in the 40-yard dash, while fellow cornerbacks Ron Brooks (4.23), Drayton Calhoun (4.24) and Morris Claiborne (4.25) all went sub-4.3 in the hand-timed 40. Claiborne and Brooks are still herr Our secondary is very quick and I'm sure you've seen multiple videos of Tyrann " T-Rex" using his speed ala his multiple Sacks.

I don't care. It's a retort to all the SEC rulz bullshite. LSU played one bad PAC team and an above average team. UW outgained you and OS had you on the ropes. You're a top tier SEC team. It's overplayed! Ole Miss, Kentucky, Vandy, Florida, Geogia, tennessee...these weren't exactly world beaters. Sure, they can compete and give you a scare but any team in the PAC will too. ASU last year had Wisconsin on the ropes. UCLA beat a down Texas. Sure, the SEC is better than the PAC but the difference is not what people want to believe.

Wow. Hand-timed 40's. My mom ran a 4.3 hand timed 40.
