As much grief as people give CJJ on pitching changes, WVU just made the 2 worst ever

Why would you take out your starter who was doing relatively well to throw 2 scrubs down only 2 in the 5th?
I’ve never seen a team give up like that.

Guy was probably gased because worked the pitch count so high early on.
Which of course the rant thought was preposterous.

I have a theory on that. See the thread I just started

He wasn’t sharp anymore after we took away his inside corner. Still seems like he would have done better than the relievers they chose.

I can't believe their coach conceded is down 2 but that sure is what it seems like. Now they are bringing in a guy who actually has some innings pitched this year. I am not sure their coach knows what he is doing, maybe the heat hA gotten to him.

Starter was laboring, between BR climate or all that use last weekend, Coach pulled him to allow him to come back IMO

You can’t throw 82 pitches that quickly into a game in heat that you aren’t used to and be gased? Who knew.

Frey crushes lefties & jones does too, to an extent. I think he was playing matchup. A little early tho, I agree.

I realize he wasn’t great but the guy he brought in was waving the white flag. That’s crazy down 2.

When the first guy came in with only 6 innings pitched the whole year they are telling you we concede Game 1 we will take our chances in the next 2 games

Lester-WV brought in a freshman who has 1 1/3 all year.

Their starter was a good pitcher. The only thing I can think of was the heat fatigued him. He should not have come out.

Nope. You absolutely can't concede Game 1 of a Super when you are only down two runs. This was WV's best chance to win a game. Their starter was widely considered a very good pitcher. Whoever they put up tomorrow isn't worthy to be mentioned in the same sentence as Eyanson.

6ip, and looks like he missed 6 weeks in the middle of the season.

I think he didn't want to bring in his top relievers down 2 runs. Can't argue with that. Jay does the same thing with Cowan & Evans.
But to bring in a freshman with 6 IP is trying to catch lightning in a bottle, and reeks of desperation managing way too early in the series!

You don’t have to be a baseball guru to figure that out
