Yes we have major QB problems. But you can't completely fault Harris man. This offensive scheme is not QB friendly at all and it's become pretty clear Miles refuses to adapt.

I'm not completely faulting Harris. This is all Miles' fault. Harris would have been fine, most likely, under someone else. I'm talking about how the rest of the season will play out.

In addition to Miles, we also have MAJOR QB problems.

I think it's clearly "them", and miles should take tons of heat for signing them and continuing to run them out there.

So, you think it's likely that somehow, Miles recruited 5 straight 4 Star rated QBs and not only weren't they good, but none of them were even capable of fielding a standard competent passing offense?

That strains credulity. There are teams all over the country fielding 3 star guys who manage to not look like Special Olympians of passing.

I'd buy 1 bust.........but each of these guys came out as a 4 star.
JL
JJ
AJ
Rettig
BH

And again, we're not really asking for "good" at this point. Somehow, they were all relatively awful for much of their careers. And, if any of them had found themselves in an offense with a shite running game, we might have averaged 50 yards a game.

Agreed.

Jefferson had much more of a big play potential, too.

Jefferson was unfairly treated by the fans here.

I was watching Texas high school football program last night and there is a ton of great QBs coming out of this state this year. I find it hard to believe that we can't find a quality QB to play for a National power team like LSU.

In hindsight, I agree.

After 3 yrs with the same HC, the same OC, and running the same offense, why is there any expectation for him to improve? In the meantime, 2 first time starters, making their first appearance, in pressure packed games over the wkend, stole the show. Which of the 3 has a more promising future?

Yes I think there have been some huge misses on the talent evaluation. Most notably BH and AJ.

Objectively you'd have to say both JL and JJ were serviceable SEC QBs, at a minimum. Hell they combined to lead LSU to its greatest season ever, until the bama rematch. But you can't overlook 12-0 SEC champs with pretty good overall passing stats.

And did rettig ever take a meaningful snap? Can't really evaluate him as an LSU QB if he never played.

Don't forget rivers as well. What the hell was that signing?

Bottom line IMO is that we have failed too many times with QB recruiting. And then on top of that miles has been pretty bad choosing which QB to play.

Yeah, but that had a lot to do with his attitude.

He did have a shitty attitude sometimes, no question. And people disliked him for the thing at Shady's.

And people loved Jarrett Lee.

Either way, we've seen that QB play can be much worse than what we had with Jefferson. He was a pretty good rushing threat, was hard to bring down, and I think he was a lot more competitive than people gave him credit for. He also had some great passing games, they just didn't come consistently.

Jefferson's size helped him so much. We need to stop recruiting small dudes at quarterback, especially in this offense if our QB is going to be sitting in the pocket with an O-line getting shoved back into his face immediately after every snap.

Seriously. Harris is listed at 6'3, but I'm sure he's not actually. Give me a 6'5 or 6'6 shitty quarterback over a 6'1 or 6'2 shitty quarterback all day.

Its one game. BH6 WILL complete some deep balls to Dupre/Dural, we know that, it WILL happen.

the rant believes Miles and Cameron coach him to play like that. Seriously they actually think that.

But you're right, LSU has no QB right now. Serviceable anyway. Maybe the new staff can do something with the younger guys, let's hope

I refuse to believe Harris is turrible. Cam recruited him so it is Cam's fault.

I just can't see how you can look at all these highly ranked QBs...

Lee - High 4* (elite 11)
Jefferson - Low 4*
Jennings - Low 4*
Harris - High 4* (Elite 11 #2 DT in the country)

And come to any conclusion other than their scheme and coaching suck arse. There is no way on earth everyone of these were recruiting misses.

I watched Harris with my own eyes in HS play loose and extremely confident. He took off when needed and he was much more accurate.

Now we see a scared, timid QB, afraid to throw an INT.

With Harris playing this way, this is a 6-6 team. Maybe 7-5.

I know he's had bad games, but he's never played really bad for an entire season.

How many games can THIS team win with Harris playing QB the way he does?

It doesn't matter. We can't win that many game with an offensive system that frankly no one on our team seems to run well.

quote:

Forget about Miles for a minute.

Impossible. He's the HC. He has a say in every single play Harris is involved, and his performance should take that into consideration.

quote:

The offseason was full of hope that Harris would make the jump and be a serviceable QB

He was a serviceable QB last year considering the amount of opportunities he had. The play calling, and lack of in game reps made the November stretch a really difficult task.
