Alabama and Florida good enough for you year in and year out? If Miles doesn't win those big games he's not here for the long haul.

Your post expresses my sentiments down to the last period and semicolon. When I get annoyed (or worse) reading the stuff on this board I try to tell myself that it does not represent a cross-section of LSU fans, but instead tends to attract disproportionately those who, for whatever reason, feel aggrieved.
its the vocal minority. or at least i hope its the minority.

I was just about to say that foshizzle. Thats the reasoning they gave for pushin charlie mac out. He couldn't beat bryant on a regular basis. (Hell, could anybody?) Then looked what happened for about the next 10 years to tiger football. It was plain dismal. We finally got 2 coaches in a row that know what they are doin and are continually keeping our program in the national picture. what more do you want? you are not gonna win them all!
+1 for post of the year kappa!

FAIL!!! Your sound logic and insight are not welcome here. This area is reserved for the idiots (offense was better last year) and malcontents (JJ should have ignored the three gators climbing in his shorts and thrown downfield every play).
Thanks for the sanity.

Uhhhhhh??? Really??? What do you care???
It says a lot when your own team is so bad you have to use someone else's coach to make a point.
If you get Porter, you should thank Les Miles.

Well for a Memphis fan I guess that's all it takes.

We're 7-2, 4-2, with the two losses to the top 2 teams in the country, each game decided by 10 points or fewer.
And each game could have and in the case of Bama should have been won with better coaching.

We are poised to finish 10-2, go to a New Year's Day bowl, and perhaps finish ranked in the Top 5 in the country.
Do you base that on last year's finish after a disappointing loss to Bama?
How long have you been predicting the future?

Our offense is improving with each game
Do you watch any games sober?

has NEVER lost an embarrassing game (UAB, ULM or Oregon anyone?)
Really? You weren't embarrassed by losing to Kentucky and Arkansa in 2007?
You enjoyed UF scoring 51 on us, and UGA scoring 52 on us - both last year?!

when he could have (and maybe should have) gone home to what surely must be his dream job -coaching his alma mater- he chose to be true to his team & this school.
Michigan doesn't and didn't want him. If they had, he'd be there now.

Finally, we are poised to reel in a great recruiting class following perhaps one of the greatest recruiting classes in LSU football history.
And when we do, they will be under-coached, and the trend will continue under Miles.

Pathetic.
What's pathetic is having the best talent in the country (by your own assertion) and continuing to lose games, not because of lack of talent, but because of a coaching staff that constantly underachieves.
Miles might be a great recruiter, but he has to be because he is almost always outcoached.
I'm not saying he should be fired. I'm saying it's very frustrating to lose football games when you have superior, or at the very least, equal talent.
I lived through the lean years and before, and know how rare championship teams are. And to see the program built to championship level and then squandered by poor coaching is more than frustrating.

I am also surprised that nobody has come in here and posted something like: "LSU is in a decline. If you can't see that, you're retarded."
The day is still young.
I can say certainly that I enjoy the postion of competing with our true damn-strong Ranters to have a great want to see more threads like this. When we encounter a great thread, we want to honor those who've posted on that thread and enjoy and embrace that challenge one post at a time. We're not there yet, but I certainly like where we are now, and the players who enjoy to compete here share that same want.

Would you kindly please define for me what you mean by "poor coaching," "underachieving coaching" or how he was "out-coached" in the Bama game? I just don't see it. How in the world is this program underachieving? Because we haven't won the National Championship every year since 2003?

its no use. it doesn't matter how right you are, they are just going to come back with the same old schtick.
these people were probably complaining when we had saban. and now its miles turn.

Yes, ok I'm a Memphis fan, whatever.
Even if I were, I wouldn't go to a Memphis board to blow rainbow colored bubbles about squandering CUSA championship talent because our coach made just enough bad calls and players weren't coached correctly through the 9th week of the year or he didn't put his best players on the field when it mattered most.
But just before Tommy West was fired I'm glad I could call him a standup guy.

Exactly, don't you see? We have the "best" talent in the country every year. Nobody can match our "talent", not even USC, Florida, Alabama, or Texas.
For some reason people believe that no other team's talent can stack up with ours. Yes, we have great talent, but so do other top notch teams. Its just unrealistic to think we can win the NC every freaking year. 2 out of the last 7 is better than 99% of other teams can say.
Good post Kappa

And this should make me, or any other LSU fan, give two farts about your opinion regarding our program or coach because?????????????????
I'll give it to you, it takes a lot of "fortitude" for a person in your shoes to talk crap on here. Good luck in that coaching search, and your pursuit of the Conference USA Championship!

This is an excellent post. Well said KappaSwig!
Admittedly I am a negatiger, but you have put some things into perspective for me. Miles is the best coach we could hope for at this time. We are lucky to have him. Now, if we lose to LaTech or lose looking very bad to Arky and/or Ole Miss, my feelings will change.
Posted on 11/10/09 at 3:39 pm to tigermoney
Does anyone really expect more than three SEC titles per decade?
Bama will continue to field good teams as long as Satan is still there.
Arky, Aub, and Ole Piss won't be pushover squads.
It's very competive in the SEC west. Always has been always will be.
