He gets an extra day this week . Should be fine

I’m not criticizing Jay. I’m sure he has some data to justify it. But some media people surely will. Some other SEC coaches recruiting will too. Especially since Kade missed his Sr year 2 years ago with TJ.
But he’s a big ol boy, and has an effortless delivery. I’m sure he’ll be fine. But there will be some backlash.

Add another 100 pitches over 5 decades ago in 1974 by Nolan Ryan to get to 235. Anderson will be fine. If not, modern day medicine and technology isn’t worth a shite.

That’s not why they don’t do it anymore.

If nolan ryan is your data point, we may be in trouble

Well, certainly they’ve learned that bringing in relievers with insane stuff is a cheat code.
But fear of overuse & arm management is certainly the main reason.

I'm not crazy about extending him, HC
130+ pitches is crazy. Full bullpen, probably won't even play 3 games this wknd, it's April.

Guess that’s why kid retired 15 of last 16. Or something like that.

Agreed that it's high, but the kid is what, 19 years old. He'll be alright.

you are gonna argue “objectively” at least pull some SEC stats out.
I don’t have to dig to know that you would find similar crossover in the SEC lol.
The most Skenes threw in a regular season game was 116. His average outing was 99 pitches in those games.

It's definitely way more pitches than is ideal, and I'm surprised Jay put him back out there in the 9th, but he was obviously perfectly effective.
He's got an extra days rest and I doubt regardless of how effective he is next week he doesn't go much over triple figures. Not all pitches are equal, and I'll trust the coaches who are paid to manage such things. Nice victory, Tigers.

Pussification of America is ongoing, 30 years ago complete games were the norm
Now 6 innings is deemed a good start
Geez people he will be fine

It’s too many pitches for sure. Who knows how it will impact Anderson. I certainly don’t.

Yeah, you’re right. Vitello is above using that to negative recruit.

I said I wasn’t criticizing Jay, but some most certainly will. And I am absolutely right, whether I should be or not.
My bigger issue with it was he was coming off his worst outing of the season, and it was a gamble bringing him back out when he could have left giving up 0 after 8. It paid off, obviously, but a couple bloops and a bomb, and he could be feeling a totally different kind of way right now. But we’re moving away from the main story that Anderson was an absolute fricking stud tonight.
