JC was a DL recruit technically I believe. I think listed as a DE on some sites IIRC

I’m genuinely curious what happened in his life that changed. Him picking LSU was insane in the first place, because people didn’t even realize they were in legitimate consideration, but he apparently didn’t even tell his mom what school he was going to pick before announcing. A lot of people said he was a great kid, and he was close to Ojulari who was a really mature guy.
The first rumor was he smoked some bad drugs and stepped away from the team after that, but he apparently had a GPA that started with a 1 and seemed to be a complete disaster every way off the field.
