From everything I heard from people that actually went to practices in fall, Howard is the most talented QB we've got. I don't know if Nuss beats him out if thats the case. It's gotta click mentally, but not physically.

Well, if that’s the case, we shouldn’t have to worry Nuss beating him out, now should we?

I mean either way, we would get the better QB right?

Don’t know how anyone can say that with a straight face. Had 3 guys in the off-season, brought in a 4th who was worse than all of them and played him for 95% of the snaps
hate to break this to you, but you don't have enough information to know that Nuss or Howard are better than JD.

You've seen zero of walker howard.

You've seen maybe 4-5 quarters of Nuss, 2 of which were REALLY shaky

But you know this already

Do you honestly think that we beat Bama without Daniels? We don't. He won that game for us.

Exactly!!!! I don't want Walker to leave but if he does, that would have to mean Nuss if pretty freaking good, which in turn would make LSU pretty damn good. This is not exactly a bad problem to have. Sure beats wondering who is going to be the QB out of Anthony Jennings, Brandon Harris, and Brad Kragthorpe.

We've yet to see what walker can do. I'll leave that up to the coaches.

Really don't see Walker leaving this year. I totally see him staying at least through next season. My understanding is he grew up a fan and obviously his dad played here. Also, supposedly he promised his late mother that he was gonna play QB at LSU. If that part is true then that goes a long way with a kid. He requested to redshirt so really think highly unlikely he leaves due to not starting year 2 when he had to know that redshirting could potentially push you behind someone else experience wise.

But like I said, Howard is a fresh, and Nuss is a redshirt fresh. There's one year difference. If Nuss takes the job, Howard either sits most of his career here, or leaves.

The irony in all of this is that if Daniels returns it might actually help Howard. He would presumably be better prepared for an open competition as a RS SO than as a RS FR.

If Daniels leaves, Howard will have to either beat Nussmeier in 2023 or unseat a returning starter in 2024.

Maybe that’s OP’s point. Personally I think we’ll be fine either way.

I agree; I think his dad wanted that for him too, because starting that early hindered his(Jamie) career later with development. He also had that injury coming out of highschool.

That is 1000% correct, someone will bitch about every possible possibility of the QB room no matter the outcome. Taxes and Death are NO more certain than that.

Absolutely. Nuss isn’t the end all be all. Walker could be.

Best answer by far.

I feel like WH has a good head on his shoulders. I don't know if he's the "start me or I'm out" kinda guy. I could be wrong, I don't know him.

Not speaking specifically about WH, but if a QB isn't going to start at one school and he has an opportunity to start elsewhere, then he should consider it. They can't take their circumstances for granted, sometimes maybe a guy just isn't good enough at that place. In that case it's in the best interests of the school and the player to move on. That school gets a spot back for a younger player that may have more upside.

I don't think it's a character thing. Joe Burrow transferred, no one thinks he has questionable character.

People here knighting Walker as the chosen one and we've yet to even see dude play lol
I want the best QB starting next year and I do believe Nuss will be next up. We have dealt with inadequacy at Qb for some time now and there will absolutely be growing pains with Walker if he starts next year.
Why go through that when we have a QB in Nuss that is more experienced and has proven he can get playmakers the ball.
I'll admit to having some bias cause I feel like Nuss was slighted this year and deserves a fair shot as a starter.
LSU will be more ready to win NOW with Nuss staying and playing next year imo.

Not sure why we think walker will leap Nuss on depth chart. I'll let the chips fall.

The thing about it now is that Howard has had his redshirt year. We have no idea what kind of development he has had during this year. For both of these guys the competition in the spring and fall is wide open. I wouldn’t recommend either transferring right now.

Which is exactly what he didnt do this season. Nuss should have been starter. Any idiot could see how obviously better Nuss is.
