Combination of both. Green was open a lot and so was Harris. Eugene was open a few times as well. Jayce Brown struggled getting separation outside but Sam did have issues getting the ball to the open receivers. He abandoned the pocket far too often.

He rarely makes a second read. Looks to takeoff running too early and when he does takeoff, never looks downfield. See Chambliss for the way you’re supposed to escape pocket and look for WRs

It’s very difficult for WRs to put in maximum effort every play when the QB doesn’t notice when they do. And when he does notice he misses them when open.
This is a Leavitt issue.

It’s similar to JD’s first year. Defenses are forcing everything in front of them. This means wrs need to get separation and throws need to be delivered in tight windows.

Replays show open receivers when Leavitt took off and ran. Otherwise, it seemed his first instinct was to run.

They are both true, but more true on Sam. Slow decision making and very avg arm. Possibly small hands.

It appears to me his vision and anticipation is lacking. A lot like Daniel’s his first year. I hope he comes back for all to seee his 2nd year progression.

I watched the film on this game twice. Leavitt is reading one option and bailing out the pocket even if he’s not getting pressured. He doesn’t trust his arm to make certain throws at all so he rather run. Too many times last night receivers were open and chose to run instead.

I saw receivers coming open on several plays, but Sam was bailing out to fast, sometimes no reason to bail either.
