Are other schools having the same problem keeping fans in the seats?

Or is this an LSU thing? I haven't been to a road game in a few years.

It doesn't seem like other crowds are thinning out as much as they are at LSU but it's impossible to tell on TV.

all schools are having issues. Even pro teams are having issues.

Television is hurting live attendance.

Would bet my life if auburn is beating us 20-6 in the third or losing to us 6-20 in the third, the place will still be packed and rocking. Minus maybe the LSU section

Yes. I have been all around the SEC and have seen empty seats at all venues and that includes Alabama

I disagree. We've all seen other stadiums empty out.

This.

It's just such a hassle to deal with all of the tailgating rules, the financial cost, the traffic, the parking, the hangover in the stadium, etc etc.

I live on the Northshore and I'd rather just watch all the games that day on my TV than drive 2 hours with traffic to deal with all that.

I was at the '14 game when they whipped us like 42-7. And that place was packed until nearly the end

But that doesn't really explain leaving early.

Outside of big conference games almost all stadiums empty out after the half.

If we are doing that to Alabama in November I bet the stadium will be full and rocking. Not a great chance of that happening but hey one can hope.

Serving alcohol at games would probably help

Yes, I think it's happening everywhere. I attended an NC State game this past weekend. By 3rd quarter it looked just as empty as Tiger Stadium. TV timeouts, post-game traffic anxiety, desire to watch other (more competitive)games, and overall discomfort (heat, humidity, uncomfortable seats, etc) seem to suck the life out of crowds used to watching at home on big screens in a recliner with cold beer, hot food, clean restrooms, etc.

I have attended nearly every home game at BDS since 2010 and, with that perspective, LSU has not cornered the market on early departing fans, or empty seats in the uppers. The average Tiger fan is really only at other stadiums for LSU games, and well, people get up for LSU the same way we get up for Bama/UF, so maybe the appearance that other schools do more is there. I will say that traffic arriving/leaving BDS flows much smoother than at TS. So maybe that is a factor.

Length of actual game time is the biggest problem, that keeps people from staying until the end.

it just gets boring staring at a field with nothing happening on it every tv timeout which seems to happen after every drive. Not to mention that you're staring at a field with nothing on it in 95 degree heat. I'd rather tailgate and then watch it at a bar/restaurant like I did this week.

I can't say what other schools do, but I can say that I have had season tickets since 2000 and I suffered as a student through the Curley Hallman years. Right now in Baton Rouge two things are killing attendance:

1. Leslie Miles. Plain and simple, people are not motivated to see this man coach football games anymore and have to deal with the drivel that comes from his offensive game plans. It is much easier to just not go, or to show up and leave, than to suffer - yet again - through this man's BS. Want to see more asses in seats for 4 quarters? Give us something to believe in.

2. The (L)East Baton Rouge Parish Police Traffic Flow. Simply put, the traffic flow plans out of the stadium are F*&ED after games. Its tight enough getting into and out of campus on a good day, but when 100,000+ people are trying to leave, the idiots that control the flow of traffic out of campus manage year in and year out to continually f*&*k it up. I have a 2 hour drive WITHOUT traffic when I leave the game. If I'm sitting in disgust at CLM and his 1950's I-formation offense, its time to Geaux. If I can beat the 1-2 hours of traffic to get off campus then it makes life a lot easier for me. This past week I got in my car at 10:15 PM. I didn't make it to Stanford Blvd until nearly midnight. Rolled into my driveway at 2:00 am. Yes, I know there are a lot of people there and that traffic is a thing, but before the LSU AD starts bitching about people leaving early they need to consider that the EBRPD is doing his fan base no favors once they get in their car.

And I was at the 2015 LSU/AU game where we whipped them, and Death Valley was packed to the end.

Question, have you ever been to an AU/MSU game where AU is up double digits in the 4th?

Another question, how often are yall watching other SEC teams play cupcakes on TV and looking at their stands?

The answer is you dont. You watch their big games, or close games, and compare them to our cupcakes

That's true. The NFL had to go away from blacking out games that aren't sold out.

23-6 is no blowout by any stretch

My rule is that if we're up by 40+ then i will leave before the end

I have actually considering my family went to auburn. And their fans stay longer than ours. There is no debating that. Maybe it's because their isn't as much to do in auburn idk. But if they were ranked beating msu 20-6, no one leaves.
