I’m not trying to gain anything, it’s simply enjoyable to continually point out the glaring double standards and willful ignorance O pumpers employ in a desperate attempt to paint his tenure as something other than a middling effort, average at best.

I saw improvement. Like I said, he managed to not lose to a mid-major. Things are certainly looking up. I’m confident he can put at least a field goal on the board against Bama.

There was no evidence Miles was a championship coach when hired.

Honestly, the same can be said about Saban when hired here.

Hiring a coach, short of getting someone like Saban to jump ship, is pretty much always a maybe.

The goal is to hire the person with the most positive indicators but even when you succeed, you miss a lot

Why?

Because you're judging one coach on his start, the other on his end.

There was no evidence Miles was a championship coach when hired.

<------ The point

Your Head

Plus, is this the first time Orgeron has coached?

Do you REALLY want to bring a coach’s first job record into this? Really

You're doing it with O.

This is where part of the frustration comes from. I do believe O is capable of late career Miles and winning 8-10 games here indefinitely and never taking the next step. Hence why, yes, he will be here for multiple years while a certain segment of the base champions that as some phenomenal accomplishment every single year.

There will always be challenges, injuries, the next recruiting class to prop him up when we literally just got done with that type of coach resting on his laurels. And I'd argue Miles was RESTING and complacent, this is O performing at his highest level

Yeah. This is all in your head.

How many titles does ole miss have over the last 20 years. Hell when was the last time that ole miss won a NC?

Why would I care about Ole Miss

Because you're using his years at ole miss as years that he didn't win a NC. If you're going to use those years against him it's relevant to know how often ole miss has brought home a championship.

Just want this on record.

In your opinion, theres no reason fans should expect a better season in 2019, correct?

They care more about the coach than they do the program

How high are you based on that?

High -

Expectations ARE high
Results are yet to be determined

But consider this:

1. Returning legitimate QB
2. Quality backup QB
3. Expected change to R/P offense
4. Great recruiting class coming in
5. Emphasis on upgraded O & D lines
6. Returning experienced players
7. Solid coaching staff

I could go on, but yea, expectations are high !

They're fans of the coach, not the program. Still on the first page.

If you want to start firing coaches because they are only winning 9-10 games a year then there will not be a single coach with options that will want to coach here.

It seems like most can see that Orgeron is not going to get us above that level. The split in fandom is between the vast majority of fans that think we can do better and a very vocal minority that think finishing 3rd in the West and never competing for championships is the best LSU can do.

Again, in your vast knowledge of college football, you can't see reason for people to be "pumped" for next season?

You've avoided it so far.

Don't misrepresent what I was responding to. You claimed this..

the OP and several others have stated that if you're not prepared to replace O with jimbo right now

No one has said that. You inserted that qualifier yourself.

It's the whole premise of the thread. It's actually what the thread is about. You're in denial.
