re: Are expectations so low now, that some are legit upset at talk of getting a proven coach?

And I'd argue Miles was RESTING and complacent, this is O performing at his highest level.
It's absolutely amazing how large a fable people construct to support a hardened stance.
What is a “fable” about that Roger?
It’s been said for years that The Rematch “broke” Miles and the game had passed him by.
O is certainly giving it his all, is he not?
The results have been practically the same.

Nope, I’ll happily start a thread and request that it be pinned to take all of the shite you can shovel at me. I’ll feast on crow for months if O wins an SEC championship or national championship. And I’ll do it all with a smile on my face.

I sincerely hope that you don't think that you're going to be posting support for this team if they're in the hunt for a NC this November.
Please link one single negative post about this team or any player I have ever made. TIA
Questioning a coach’s ability to get the most out of their very talented players is in no way a lack of support for that team.
Blindly defending the shortcomings of a team by questioning the talent or execution while avoiding all critique of the head coach is the opposite of supportive imho.

Do you REALLY want to bring a coach’s first job record into this? Really?
Funny how that works isn’t it

If you want to play it hard and fast.
You're missing the point.
I said "late career" Les Miles after he proved he could 1) Win an NC 2) Consistently finish in the top 10 for a few seasons 3) Consistently recruit Top 10 classes, etc.
He proved his mettle, so post 1/9/2012 was Miles scared and eventually coasting. He had the capability to put it together, but never did again.
We have never seen O at any point in his career do better than last year, so there's no evidence that he can suddenly turn it around and do better. And he's shown a lot of weaknesses (losing to Troy, having a sub-par record against the top coaches, SEC record going down, E as OC, etc.). Like I said, O can probably win 8-10 games here indefinitely and you would love that. "Next Year U!" That's O's story now.
I bet if we win 10 again this year, it will be all about the next recruiting, how O has to stay and get a raise/extension to secure it. And he did phenomenal because the false story of the LSU dumpster fire will persist. LSU's late career Les Miles years will start to be akin to Rutgers' program. So sad.

This is exactly the OP's point. This is the mentality that fans have sunk to. Orgeron is now in his 4th year, but its too early to measure his success? Yet
I’ve posted this repeatedly, but no SEC coach this century has ever won the SEC without at least winning their division by year TWO.
If O does so in the future, he will be breaking twenty years of precedent.

Well, some of those "seldom few" are in this thread and being addressed.

Why?
Because you're judging one coach on his start, the other on his end.
There was no evidence Miles was a championship coach when hired.

That's called being a bandwagon fan.
Most real fans are optimists, regardless of little details. Every offseason we expect to improve. That's why we are fans.
Whats your prediction for the season? lay it out.

Again, have they explicitly stated that they are hoping Orgeron needs to be replaced? Or is this another interpretation on your part for the sake of arguing?

“ interpretation on your part”
It’s gotten to the point with some that if you suggest you’re going to wait and see what the offense does before labeling it as one of the best ever for LSU, you’re being negative or you hate coach O.

That's clearly not the case in this thread.

10-3 last year, should have been 10-2. Great defense, better offense, likely new scheme, more favorable schedule.
What makes you think we wouldn't improve on last year?
There's nothing blind about being optimistic for 2019. In fact, you would have to construct more fables to get around it.

The only difference between 2017 and 2018 is O didn’t lost to a mid major team.

He had won Big 12 coach of the year.
As has been said, there are always a limited number of proven championship coaches available. Few vacancies can be filled with one.
But comparing hiring a guy that had shown some promise and turned around a woeful program into a consistent bowl game team and hiring a coach that went 3-21 in the SEC isn't even in the same galaxy.

If that's your view, then it's not worth trying to discuss anything of substance with you.
Most fans saw improvement. You didn't simply because you want Orgeron to fail.
That's not fanhood.

And "fans" like you have such disdain for Orgeron that you are hoping LSU fails. Wins luke the one over Georgia last fall sicken you.
