By what metric, salary?

No one made Alleva give him more than any other DC in the country last offseason.

Using his salary as a measuring stick is ridiculous in this case. They knew what he was and still gave him the money. That's not his fault nor should he be held to a standard of salary, since it was offered to him, not demanded by him.

what kind of nonsense is this. Who in any job isn’t held to a standard of salary. He makes a shite ton for a DC we expect a ton out of him

He's been a great DC. Who would deny that?

Did he come to LSU and demand a pay raise? Or did another school come calling and LSU decided to match? There's a difference. The premium we paid to Aranda was to keep him. Why is there some demand that he be better than he's been, which has already been great? And when are we going to hold all coaches to the same standard, because we demand perfection from Aranda and shower hopes and dreams onto our offensive staff.

Stats show #26 overall ranked D last year allowing 338 yards per game.

Only YOU can be the judge as to whether or not that is good enough for LSU

Show me a better defense that has had a worse offense in the last 3 years.

As bad as our offense has been they rarely ever turn the ball over giving opponents short fields

Aranda has no excuse not to field an elite defense this year.

Hopefully he will be more aggressive.

I want offensive and defensive aggression.

Being the highest paid coordinator opens you up for criticism, and I think it is justified.

For example, I think his defense deserved to be scrutinized for letting Felipe Franks run a 75-yard winning TD drive on you with 10 minutes left in the 4th quarter.

And no one wants to talk about it, but regardless of how you feel about the refs, this defense let aTm drive 78 yards in the final 1:28 of the game, including a 19 yard pass with no time left.

MSU beat the brakes off the 2017 defense, and then ND did something similar with a 35 second drive with 2 minutes left in the game.

He is not the defensive God our fans build him up to be.

It's fair to criticize Aranda, but the reason people like Pirate King get down voted is because they aren't really criticizing him, they're just saying "he's underachieving lol" and then don't qualify their claims.

I mean...his defense ranked top 10 his first year. Top 30 his second year. Top 40 his third. At some point, y’all have to quit putting blame on everyone else for the decline over the past 3 years. He is the defensive coordinator. I get that he hasn’t had DL talent. He is the DC. Does he share none of the blame in the decline in talent on defense since he arrived on the line? I hate Orgeron as much as the next guy, but when do you start to wonder if he is a bit overrated?

he turned Duke Riley and Debo into NFL linebackers.

I saw one of Debo’s high school games, came home and told my son, who was one year ahead of Jones at Jesuit, that LSU better offer Debo because he will be in the NFL one day. Aranda did not turn Jones into an NFL player. It was there in high school. I was always amazed that Jones wasn’t playing more. I began to doubt myself. But every time they put him in a game he looked like the best player on the field. Finally they started him, and he dominated.

Yes we have lacked line of scrimmage talent and depth. That is his responsibility as well

Considering the offenses he’s been paired with at LSU, he’s earned every dollar.

Dave is about the only person on staff that is shielded by the fans from negative commentary..., and deservedly so.

I freaking love Dave!

Aranda isn't makin 2.5 Million for his recruiting prowess.

And O isn't the HC for his strategic prowess

However, We are o key in the last couple of years feeling the the effect of having bad DL recruiting in 2015 and 2014.

Lush as given up 30+ points 4 times in 3 years.

major depth issues in 3/4 and I am including the pick 6 vs UCF
