It would give him the next rung. If he succeeds there he will be offered $5 million per year to coach an FSU or a Michigan
Yeah but who’s the last successful coach at UNLV? They’re getting a new practice facility but it’s still hard to get recruits here. The last guy was the head coach at Gorman and he still couldn’t pull any of their top rated guys so I don’t know how Aranda will. There’s a way more likely chance he stays here for 5 years winning 3-4 games a year, gets fired for the next guy, then his stock is down and he’s not making 2.5 mil a year to be a DC.
I’m all for him leaving for a HC gig but he should pick a place he actually has a chance to succeed.

I always love the “...COULD be ....” nonsense.
Such ‘say something that says nothing’ garbage is unprofessional

Feldman may hate LSU(not sure that's true) but he and O are really tight. Means to me there are legs to this as Feldman likely would've at least given a heads up to O before going public and it would've been nixed if no truth to it.

isnt he out recruiting for LSU right now?
Have you ever looked for a job and stopped doing your current job?
Posted on 12/10/19 at 6:29 pm to TheFlyingTiger
he wouldn't coach the playoff game due to new signing period.

Not downplaying your time, but when was that? Vegas today is not what Vegas was 5 years ago.

It’s not. Why do think he applied for 3 jobs (that have been made public) at small schools......
Posted on 12/10/19 at 6:29 pm to TheFlyingTiger
Why are people freaking out? This isn’t uncommon at all. Even if he takes the job he will coach through the playoffs and it won’t make a difference

I think he’s run his course here
Posters like you don’t deserve this championship level team because you can’t even appreciate how good they are
“He’s run his course here” as he has the defense humming when we absolutely need it most - unbelievable

They are about to be in the shadow of The Raiders.
How is that going to play out when they couldn't hardly get fans to show up when they were the only game in town?

Absolutely this. You don’t give up $1.5 million (assuming they even get to $1 million base for his salary) to suck. Not when you have access to the what he has here.

Why would Mizzou or Ole Miss hire Aranda when there were far more viable alternatives to a DC that makes 2.5 mil a year. Aranda has never been a major college HC.
Drinkwitz has been a head coach for all of one year. Arkansas hired a career o line coach. And I wasn’t saying whether or not they should have hired him but I’m just saying its weird he wasn’t even in the running (ie didn’t even contact about the openings)

Aranda is the highest paid DC in the country. LSU will get whoever they want if he leaves. Who wouldn't want to get more $$$ or be the highest paid DC of a possible championship team?
Don't forget being the brunt of criticism despite doing a decent job overall. That contract comes with a burden.

he would not coach through the playoffs, this isn't 2007 like when we lost Pelinni, the new signing period ducks everything up.

People are worried he won’t be as invested with one foot out the door. I agree.

Seems crazy to leave for UNLV. Gotta believe he could get a much better job than UNLV in the very near future
Posted on 12/10/19 at 6:33 pm to 1999
I didn't read through the 50 pages of this thread, so if this has been stated in the 50 pages sorry. UNLV is an ABSOLUTE SHITHOLE of a job, and he's a fool if he takes it. The stadium is a dump, below zero fan support, and absolutely no tradition. Also, I can't imagine he would be getting much of a pay increase over what he makes at LSU.Other than that, it's a VERY attractive job.Dave is a fool if he takes that career killer.

This couldn’t come after the early signing period. I swear if this effects our recruits
Posted on 12/10/19 at 6:33 pm to tigahlovah
stadium is not a dump he will playing in the brand new Raiders stadium
