Aranda is involved in the recruiting of 1 guy right now. This has been in the works for some time. Didn’t just up and decide to apply to jobs this week..... everyone will believe what they want, just telling you what I know to be true

If he doesn’t become the highest paid HC in the MWC I’d be shocked

Did the tightening up of the defense happen because they got healthy, or was it because we looked like shite at Ole Miss and Ed had enough?

Maybe it’s not Aranda’s choice. It was pretty obvious coach o was not very happy with the D.

I'm starting to think this is what's going on.

I seriously doubt Orgeron would make that known to Aranda during the season when LSU has so much on the line. Also, for much of the season we complained about how our D-line (who O helps coach) was getting no pass rush.

This would be ridiculous, I've said all year that Arandas defense was going to shine when it needed to. If Orgeron wants him to walk that would be silly.

For 2.5 it better. People act like we need to give the guy a pass. He's known about the offense we run for a year. He is the highest paid DC in the country. It took him until the 11th game of the season to figure out how to coach his squad.

UNLY top donors and other deep pockets in Vegas want that shiny new stadium with as many asses in seats as possible. They also see Vegas as a market where new NCAA likeness rules could draw recruits. How many autograph signings are held in Vegas every year? They are taking this opportunity to try and run with it and even if it does not turn into a perpetual winning team, Aranda would not have to hit a home run to get to the next rung. And he does not have to face the SEC to get there.

The latter is what I'm thinking. Taking a job at UNLV and more than likely a pay cut just doesn't make sense to me.

Wtf could UNLV possibly do for him??

They're literally a sleeping giant with the facilities they be using from the Raiders. They have a shite ton of money to spend on facilities and it's Las Vegas which is about to boom with football.

This may sound silly but I think he was somewhat holding back. We have blitzed more in the last two games than it seems we did the whole first part of the year. I think he's a very good coach.

yeah know all of this has got me thinking. This kinda has shades of the Matt Canada situation. Example Orgeron having to apologize after the Ole Miss game, talking about how he got involved in the playcalling of the defense. Plus I now have noticed he has barely mentioned Aranda's name all season, kinda been like the forgotten man. Yet talked about Ensminger and Brady all the time.

UNLV
way below what he should be looking for. A young elite DC should be looking for mid their P5 jobs.

Look at pruit, etc.

Horrible decision on on his part if true

I can’t see this having anything to do with the defense. I think Dave is getting his chance to start his head coaching career and you’ve gotta start at the bottom.

This day was going to come eventually. The only thing that would really phase me about it would be if he left before the playoffs. That would be bad news.

No, but Arkansas went a step below coordinator and hired an OL coach.

I wonder if it was a mutual parting of the ways. He was supposed to be the next big thing in the P5 or NFL.
