re: Aranda needs help improving LSU's defense, just like Orgeron provided help for LSU's OC

He does, but like an earlier poster stated, he's been prepping the D for Bama. Four man front with nickels and LBs guarding the slot.
What he needs is a firey (sp?) Position coach/ assistant who can be his polar attitude opposite

You need players to be an elite defense. No DC can pitch shutouts and be the number 1 defense in the country without great players. Be thankful he’s doing enough to beat two top 10 teams with what we have out there. And it’s not just a talent issue, we have too many guys standing around watching and not hustling to the ball, we have too many missed tackles, we have too many blown assignments and we have too many players looking to strip the ball while being carried 8-10 yards downfield. We have a lot of issues on defense and none of them have much to do with Dave Aranda.

My wife's a big LSU fan, just as many spouses are. She definitely provides input.

So what was John Robinson doing on LSU's sidelines, talking to coaches on the headset, ordering a diet coke?

I don’t think someone like Aranda just struggles for no apparent reason. D has had issues with injuries, but this happens every year for every team. I feel this is more about running different concepts similar to Clemson from NC game.

Conspiracy theories are great. I have no idea if we are indeed trying to copy the Clemson defense, but I will say this- the defensive formations look odd to me. Odd, as I don't think we used to line up the way we are now.
I mean, who knows? We looked fantastic (and like LSU) in beating Ga Southern, and then we went in and beat Texas.
We play 5 teams capable of beating us (generally) this season: Texas, Florida, Auburn, A&M, and Alabama.
Texas was on the road, as is Alabama. The rest are home, and thus more favorable for us to win.
Once it became clear that we were going to win the Texas game (maybe halftime), maybe the season plan became "prepare to beat Alabama". Work on defenses specifically designed to stop Tua, and outscore the rest using the offense.
I know talent differential, etc; but it's kinda funny that the defense that gets gashed by Vandy and Florida, two "mainstream" offenses, looked fricking awesome against Utah State, a team that runs an offense more like Bama's.

I have no doubt Aranda can and will fix any problems that need to be fixed without any help that's not already on the staff.
That said,

DT pressure has been the issue. We were used to having a Dorsey, Brockers, etc who got pressure at the DT. He’s need to let Shelvin stay in on 3rd down. He’s been great at pressure up the middle.
And there were multiple holding penalties not called Saturday night. How they missed the holding on the pass that went out of Queen’s hands into Perrine’s for a TD I’m not sure!

You'll get down voted into oblivion but those of us who aspire to win championships see it on display every week - our D is the weak link in the chain by far.
I used to hold Dave in the highest regard. I explained away every disappointment (you know the reasons - no depth at DL, Chaisson hurt, DBs out).
Here's a more recent one, "the offenses of today have changed so much from 10 yrs ago." So tell me, what did UF do Saturday night that teams haven't been doing for years. Ans: nothing.
I'm all out of excuses. He's just not getting it done on Saturdays.

Fertilizer!
There's hardly a single issue that is not directly tied to Aranda.

Every DC in CFB would love to have half the talent Dave gets to work with.
The lengths people go to cove for him are incredulous.

it’s time for coach O to pull the headcoach card

Who is responsible for coaching the defense? Find that guy and tell him to correct these issues.

I'm not so sure he didn't do that Sat night if you listen to the half time report and the post game interview.

Aranda doesn't need any help. He just need to stop experimenting with all the zones concepts and go back to what this defense was built for... press man coverage with the dline and a blizing LB putting pressure on the QB.

Absolutely ridiculous.
You're comparing Aranda and his years of great defenses to an at-best mediocre OC that had our offense ranked in the 100s for most of last season. You should be ashamed of this thread.

Wrong, we’re seriously lacking a single pass rusher, much less multiple pass rushers like talented teams have, we’re lacking dominant Dlineman or above average linebackers and we have no free safety. Those are some pretty big holes on defense plus there’s no depth. And no it’s not on Aranda if guys are screening up but are allowed to keep playing, that's the Head coach’s decision. It’s amazing how little the anti-Aranda crowd knows about actual football.

Gotta understand that the vast majority of the Aranda haters were all posters who refused to lay any blame at the previous offenses feet because those coaches had to be protected at all cost. A lot of this is a petty revenge narrative started by people who are so sick in the head that they hate Aranda for carrying this team the past 3 seasons. They also want a fall guy to blame in case we don’t make it this season. Thats the kind of people were dealing with here.

I don't necessarily agree with you, but assuming you're accurate, a good coach schemes around these things. Anybody can coach a defense full of 1st round talent.

What? What!? You do know this is exactly what a coordinator is paid for, right?
