damn that ring is pathetic. i cant believe anyone would actually defend that.
the giants used the same design.
the giants put the score from their week 1 win(have no clue if they even won in week one so please dont bother to look it up and try to prove me wrong) on their ring? i'd like to see that.

That is fine and all, but part of smack is one of the parties eating crow, not sifting through stats and such for moral victories.
And yes, I do realize many LSU fans are guilty of this also.

True, but my point is that if you are gonna go for moral victories/AA shields, that kinda precludes you from talking trash.
"Oh we are gonna whip you so bad, I bet you only win by 2 touchdowns!"
i could say the same about you guys hiding behind your extra scholarships and shorter schedules.
app is the little guy only once in a while. rest of the season we have targets on our back and front. teams base their entire seasons around beating us. wofford coaches even admitted they started every practice app game film.

While these guys might be good, only 4 of them can be on the field at any one time. Plus their stats aren't exactly eye poping since most of them have ridden the bench, besides their 1 or 2 tackles per game in the garbage minutes.(at least thats how it appears)
You don't know what you are talking about. Alem and Woods were sophomores last year and saw limited PT. Francois was suspended all year long and played only in the SEC Champ and NC games. He was a freaking MVP. And he is better than Taylor of Meechigan. Johnson hardly played because of last year's depth. Alexander got hurt early and missed the season, was replaced by Favorite. Pittman is solid. Jackson WILL be a first rounder, IMO.

You could say it, but that doesn't stop the statement from being stupid.
We play in a higher division than you and all of the people in that division play by the same rules.
Is App State hiding behind their scholarships from those pesky Div 2 and 3 teams?

it would be stupid and arrogant to not put that game on the ring. it set the tone for the whole season. i think the ring is badass and its even more badass that our guys are starting to run out of fingers.
Posted on 7/8/08 at 8:38 am to Armanti Edwards
How on earth would it be arrogant to NOT put the game on the ring?

um yes it does and ive never seen anyone bitching about lenoir rhyne making predictions about a morale victory.
that is what youre doing by the way, bitching.

I said he was good in his limited appearances
He could be better than taylor of Michigan but NFL draft scout disagrees with you..on him and about jackson being a 1st rounder.
well see

Not adding it to the ring != saying/acting the game didn't mean anything.
Florida this year was probably the most memorable high momment of this team, arguably bigger than our title game considering that we fulfilled predictions of the outcome....was it arrogant to not put it on the ring? And did that act of not placing it on our rings lessen our achievement?

Que?
Who is this lenior rhyne and what does he have to do with all this? I am talking about fans on this board...hell in this thread, contradicting themselves by both talking smack and gearing up for moral victories.
But as a side note, how does the ability to say something prevent it from being stupid?
Explain how does the fact that LSU belongs to a different (higher) division, just as ASU belongs to a different (higher) division to other school is the same as using a shield. Sounds more like a lame attempt at a deflection than anything else.

From ESPN: (maybe they can explain better than I can)
Dorsey may be gone after sweeping all of the national awards a defensive lineman can win, but it's possible the Tigers will be even better on the defensive line in 2008. "Even though we lost a great player in Glenn Dorsey, I think as a whole we may have more depth on the defensive line this year," co-defensive coordinator Doug Mallory said. "I think we feel really good about what we're capable of doing on the defensive line. With the group we've got coming back, that should be the strength of our defense going into the season."
The strength of the line will be its tackles -- seniors Charles Alexander (6-3, 293), Ricky Jean-Francois (6-3, 281) and Marlon Favorite (6-1, 302), junior Al Woods (6-4, 316) and sophomore Drake Nevis (6-1, 288).
Alexander is back after suffering a season-ending knee injury in the third game of the season and is expected to be ready to go in August. Jean-Francois served an 11-game suspension but still started in the SEC and BCS championship games and won the defensive MVP award in the national title game.
With Alexander out, Favorite started six games and proved to be a solid player inside, while Woods and Nevis were valuable reserves.
"A lot of people don't seem to remember this, but Charles was starting for us early last year before he got hurt," Mallory said. "When he and Glenn were both healthy, we had as good a pair of defensive tackles as any team in college football. We lost Charles after the third game, Glenn got nicked up and was never 100 percent the rest of the season, and we didn't have Ricky Jean throughout the season, so we ended up playing Drake Nevis as a true freshman and he stepped in, played his role and did a really nice job for us."
LSU's senior ends, Tyson Jackson (6-5, 291) and Kirston Pittman (6-4, 252), faced the possibility of not returning to the program this season. Pittman received a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA and Jackson contemplated entering the NFL draft before realizing he needed to return and prove himself as a pass rusher after a somewhat disappointing junior season. While they combined for 29 quarterback hurries last season, they often missed on opportunities to close the deal for a sack. Jackson and Pittman must fight off the challenges of senior Tremaine Johnson (6-2, 282), junior Rahim Alem (6-3, 254) and sophomore Lazarius Levingston (6-3, 277).

Not at all. I am looking at the acheivements of the teams separately.

From reprisal of the eating of the crow.
One thing to realize you will probably not win and take heart in playing the defending national champs of a higher division close, it is another to talk smack only to hide behind the whole AA nature later.
That is all.

Philly,
I'm skeptical of whether USC can really replace Sedrick Ellis and their great DE without some dropoff.
I'm skeptical of whether LSU's stable of talent can plug in CBs this year without a dropoff.
If I can be skeptical of top recruiting programs like that to plug in talented guys without noticing a change, I think it's reasonable for me to think ASU might have issues too.
Nothing personal - it's one thing to have talent, another thing to have proven guys. At any level.
Makes sense to me...here's where a USC fan should school us in on who's filling in for Ellis. You guys should school us on Patrick Johnson, Jai Eugene, & Chris Hawkins.
In the meantime, we will school you on Devon Moore, Brian Quick, CoCo Hillary, & Cortez Gilbert. I'm not sure you really want to inquire on these players(who should ALL make a huge impact for App in the Fall), but you are definitely using your common sense on predicting ASU can't plug in new guys without a change...I just think the change will be on the upside

I freakin' love the ring and more power to Appy State for it. They won the NC for their division and pulled off one of the biggest upsets in the history of college ball. those things deserve to be memorialized.
By the way, has anyone posted that Miami of Ohio put the score of their big upset win over LSU on their rings back in 1986 (I think that was the year)?

Its possible, but I think it may be deeper, but not better as a whole IMO. These coaches that say it is better certainly aren't going to say "our Dline sucks compared to last years"

I agree, with the new starting DBs

Because you play your games in an irrelevant classification. You want so bad to be relevant, but you are not.
Jump up in classification, play 12 games against Div IA instead of 1, then then you'll see where you stand.
