Would we be bitching about anything right now if the 2 seasons were reversed?
I think not. It is hard to believe how uneven the progress was on the field on offense, and that the back 7 were still miscommunicating in pass coverage at the end of the season, but if it were easy as a freshman there would be no need for juniors or seniors, either. Last year was a huge bonus, I just can't get PO'd losing two games that could have been won, one with a makeshift OL on the road. Then UF turned the ball over 6x to lose to UGA or they would be sitting in ATL at 12-0. shite happens, some people need to grow up and take a bigger view of the totality of what Miles has, and continues, to bring to LSU, and the competition his guys face every season. UGA fans wanted Richt fired two seasons ago, look where he is. If you're not Saban @ Bama it ain't always as easy as people want to believe. Luck, and the sequence of tough games on the schedule matter when vying for championships.

According to Les they didn't.

What has he done to deserve a raise?
Got a huge offer from a competing SEC school. Hired a damn good agent. Has the stats/record to have leverage. Gotta look at the big picture. An opportunity presented itself and he made a business deal. Smart guy. Smart agent. They should both send steaks to the Arky AD for Christmas.
You folks can bitch and moan all you want and calling for his head is like spittin' in the wind when it's blowing in your direction. It's been fun watching a bunch of little boys have a meltdown hoping he would leave. It's done. He's laughing all the way to the bank. I'm laughing at y'all.

I think what some people fail to realize is that what Joe Alleva said is absolutely correct. It's not ALL about winning championships. Les took a successful program, made it his own, lived through some growing pains, and has now built a stable, consistent program that contends for championships. Remember, LSU was not eliminated from the SEC title game hunt until last Saturday (ok, theoretically once they lost to Bama it seemed a long shot at best).
There are probably about 115 programs in the country that would love that sort of consistency from their top money-making athletic team.

Congrats to Coach Miles! I am proud of you and our LSU Tigers! LSU man for life.

Sounds a whole lot like America and Obama. Guess I'll just have to live with the changing America.
You should have been getting use to it because America was changing long before Obama. You just failed to notice for other reasons I guess
Not sure who you're replying to here.

Don't like the way this went down.
His contract already has incentives in it where he gets paid more based upon merit -- not b/c his agent is active and drew a job offer from Arkansas.

ETA: I need to take lessons from Les, and tell my boss tomorrow that our competitor offered a position to me for more money. I'll completely make the whole thing up, and walk out with a raise. I'll even make sure to spread it to our vendors, clients, etc. so that they spread the rumor back to him to make it sound real.

Godamn!!! Another fricking extension and more money. At this rate in five years he's gonna have a fifty year contract for 500 million dollars! frick! All anyone has to do is cough in his direction and he gets more money and a longer contract.
Y'all don't see a problem with this? Really?
Question -- when Saban was here, did you have a problem with it when he pulled the same shite?
For the most part, head coaches are a commodity. When a coach out distances himself from the "commodity" spectrum, such as Saban, Miles, Meyer ... you have to pay market rate for that 'better than commodity' coach.
Get over it. I can't believe there are this many dumbass LSU fans that can't see the forest because of the trees.
Would ya'll feel better if we had an AD "playing other programs" like those dumbass Arkansas fans feel like Jeff Long did to LSU, meanwhile he can't get a half-decent coach to sign up to be his guy? Would you feel better if we were on our 2nd crappy hire after having one leave in the middle of the night like UT? Would you feel better if the program slid into obscurity like UK.
Or maybe you'd feel better if Miles had completely shite the bed in 2008 and then went SEC winless in 2009 and he'd been fired then... all the while his program was under NCAA investigation?
Yes, I want BCS championships too. Yes, I was disappointed by 1/9 too. But the LSU Football program is in great hands and I am enjoying how this program is in the top 5 almost every year. For every Perriloux and Mathiu flame-out, Miles has recruited 10 Montgomery's, Mingos, and Peterson's. Relax and enjoy this period of exceptional, yes I said, EXCEPTIONAL LSU Football. Or, you know... go cry in Auburn's beer with them.
There are simply too many spoiled brats that have entered this fan base that make us all seem like uneducated hicks.
