It had nothing to do with the lack of 5 stars. It had everything to do with switching the defense.

What you should be bitching about is how good this team could have been had our defense been called the same way it has since the Alabama game with

Andre Anthony
Ali Gaye
Maason Smith
Baskerville
Ricks
Stingley
Burns

That's a deal breaker for any program

You won’t find many prima donnas when you’re winning, but you’ve got it backwards.

The lack of winning creates the problems, not the other way around.

The DB's sure had less busted coverages and seemed to communicate well. Damn prima donnas with all the talent in the world and just made themselves look bad when second and third stringers outperformed them.

I agree, but it also coincided with the scheme change before the Bama game.

Non primadonnas arent pussies and opt out when they lose. They get better and make those around them better.

O recruited soft players who cry at the first sign of weakness and run elsewhere. Thats 100% a character flaw. Those people are not winners and need to be flushed from the program
These bitches will leave anyway if they don't start, of don't get enough NIL money.

Good riddance.

This is exactly why we need new top level DC and OC.

It will be interesting to see who Kelly Hires.

The D improved because O got fired and DJ was actually able to run the defense he wanted to run which was a 3-4 attacking style defense!

Instead of the 4-3 no blitz D that Oeaux was forcing DJ to run!

if not developed into strengths. The players were not well coached early on. Eventually things get better on the defense side. If we had those five stars by the end of the season, we would be 8-4 at least.

It is not often fans to get a glimpse into the dynamics that go into the game plan but for the Bama game we get a rare look.

O - identified the need to change the front / gave thumbs up to zero blitz

Coyle - found / designed the blitzes

Jones - installed the defense and called the plays in the game

Group effort

That kind of attitude would make us fall quick. You want to turn into Ole Miss or MS State? Go after non NIL guys.

On the decision to move to 3-4 looks on defense...

"I told the guys we have to change going into Alabama. I was looking at the front, since that’s my expertise, and we weren’t stopping the run in the 4-3. You have to do different things … I knew some defenses we could put in that were better against the run, and they would change their blocking schemes. Why I was doing that, other people were researching, and Coach Coyle came up to me and said he’s got blitzes that he knows can get home, but they have to be zero. I said run them. We put them in, ran them all week and they have been working for us."

This glosses over the fact that he is the one that insisted on the move to the 4-3.
