How can you be bummed that LSU has a freshman receiver that is good enough to bring in over 300 receiving yards in 1 game? Reed played 20 years ago. We are fans, not historians. I remember watching Josh Reed and Rohan Davey set this record, but I got to watch Boutte and Johnson break this record with my son. A few years ago we watched Leornard Fournette break the single game rushing record, a few games later Guice broke his. As long as we are breaking good records, I’m very excited. Maybe one of our QB’s will break Joey B’s passing records. As long as no future defense breaks this years PPG and YPG records, I’m fine with broken records.

No, excited for the young guys, and good to see records like this broken, especially given our offensive/passing history the past two decades.

In Reed's defense, the game is different now, you got one WR getting 21 targets in one game, you did not see that in his era.

Not at all.
I'm hoping Finley, Brennan, or Johnson breaks all Burrows records next season.

to watch Reed set that record AT Bama was even sweeter.

Not to be Dougie Downer here, but as amazing as that game was, it was far from perfect for Reed. He lost a fumble in the red zone and muffed a punt.

A forgotten fact about Reed's record breaking game that year was that he had, approximately, 75 more receiving yards erased when he fumbled after a long catch & run. bama recovered & he lost those yards. And another possible TD.

Apparently a lot of media people, including The Advocate, didn't check out the facts and got it wrong.
SEC WR yards vs SEC opponent was Reed's. SEC WR yards vs any opponent was Hamilton's.

Now both are Boutte's

Josh Reed is still one of the greatest receivers in college football history - especially his last year. He was not only a great receiver (hardly ever dropped a pass) but a great route runner and his ability to run after the catch was phenomenal. I hope Boutte continues to improve and works on his pass catching (he still drops passes), route running, etc. He's not in Josh Reed's league yet. Davey to Reed was prolific. Those crossing patterns all the way across the field were legendary. Davey would just wait and wait then toss it to Reed who was usually wide open.

well at least Josh can take pride in knowing the person who broke his record is a similar sized WR to him, wore purple and gold in high school like he dis at Rayne, and is from the Acadiana parishes area.

I loved Rohan/Reed as much as anybody but it was fitting for Boutte to break the record after the 2 guys ahead of him quit the team. Also this gives us a lot to look forward to after a very bad season. We needed this.

Yeah, Reed was one of my favorites. He never quit!
I can still see the Ga Tech head coach shaking his head in frustration when Rohan to Reed was unstoppable.
They never QUIT!

But if CEO let's the wheels come off and Josh Reed's record falls because of a meaningless season in a meaningless game with two of the worst defenses in football... Then, well, shite.

I was not upset since another Tiger was the one to beat it.

You Wendell Davis,Andy Hamilton, Carlos Carson,Eddie Kennison, Ethan Martin and so many present day guys, Clayton, Beckham, Landry, Chase, & almost forgot Jefferson. Boutte is looking good and had a great game but has a long way to go to equal the above list. I know I forgot so many, getting too old ! Keep the list growing ! Somebody I can't remember that had women troubles but was damn good too. Anyway Reed you were a STUD

No. Boutte stepped up when one by one, our top 3 receiving threats decided it wasn't worth playing anymore. I'm not judging those guys. They have their reasons for quitting, and it was perhaps the right move for two of them. I can, however, root like hell for the guys that decided to stick it out and save us from a losing season.

To Kayshon Boutte and the rest of them baws that fought until the end...
