Honesty seems to frighten and bewilder the sunshine pumpers.

Probably going out of his way to sound unbiased.

Didn't Marcus put up a billboard after he left thanking Tiger fans? Someone probably still ha a picture of it.

I didn't listen to the interview. Maybe he should've made more forceful Tiger statements? But consider, if he goes all homer he will soon be dismissed in media as nothing but that. He has to guard against that now. The fact that he played here and was coached by Saban gives him a great perspective on the SEC - direct links to the two most prominent SEC programs.

Everyone has doubted LSU since Saban made us a powerhouse. No one thought we should be in title talks in 03. Miles took over. Media looked and still 10 seasons later looks for reasons to say LSU will fall.

frick them all. They were wrong in 2003 and they are wrong today, even if said media member was on that team.

LSU. STTDB if you don't respect what has happened in this program since 2000 and still exists in 2014.

Many here don't know the difference between former player blowing Saban or hate tweeting Les.

I agreed with what he said. He did not go overboard. He answered Finebaum question. That's it. Marcus Spears is all LSU. Relax guys

Anybody who doubts Spears love for the Tigers is just plain stupid. Spears and Clayton, two 5 stars, were home town proud and fought to put their 2001 LSU class together. By them choosing to stay home and rep the boot and LSU had a dramatic impact on LSU recruiting going forward.

These Gastopo tactics against former players who do not follow some script the complainers have set is a stain on LSU. From the op's post Spears said nothing negative against LSU. He expressed an opinion. Yet some a-holds on here want to string him up. The same if a NFL player says his high school rather than LSU on Monday Night Football. Or Jamarcus reps his buddies Bama record label even though he chose LSU over Bama and beat them each time he played them.

Our former players, especially a Marcus Spears, have done more for LSU than any of these numbnuts getting offended by them giving their opinion ever have or ever will. In other words STFU!!!

This. I just finished listening to the podcast. He basically went through and said who all he thought could win the SEC. He said LSU is young but talented. Then Paul asked him a question about Saban and he talked about him for a few minutes. Paul asked him a few more general questions and that was it.

Maybe is a good thing no? I love being the element of surprise, LSU seems to thrive in that role!

The problem is that college football really does follow a narrative, usually told by ESPN, these days. So we really do need every little piece of sunshine pumping that we can get. To expect a little bit of support from such a player is not much of a stretch. Especially now that Paul is linked in with the story writers.

I think Spears and the other (defensive) players from 2004 feel NO obligation to worship Saban after what he did that season and the rumors of the drama in the locker room following Iowa.

unfortunately this thread is an example of a negatard starting a thread that completely mis-characterizes what was said, and others run with it.

You are biased, impartial, a homer, unintelligent, a liar, And probably a cuckold.

And the problem is you can't even see it.
