I think we should not start Nola--because if
their ace shuts us down--our chances to get to Omaha are hurt severely. Glenn has just as good a chance of shutting them down in game ONE.
The GOAL is to win 2 games. If we win game ONE--
Start Eades in Game 2. If we blow that game.
We still have Nola to get to Omaha. We are going to Omaha. But we should not burn Nola in Game One.
The ODDS favor US with Glenn starting. With Eades
sandwiched in the middle.

Being that their Sunday starter is not good we have a real advantage on game 3.

If the goal is to win two, starting to think Eads on Friday may be a clever choice. He gets a chance to redeem himself and all we have to do is win Game 2 with Nola. No way they win game 3.

If Gray shuts us down and we use up Nola, then we're depending on Eades in an elimination game. That didn't fare well last year.
I'm on board with starting Glenn in game 1. If we can, say, 4 runs, I'm comfortable with him being able to get the win. Nola then pitches game 2 for the series.

If we can't get more than 1-2 runs against Gray, pitching Nola would be a waste. He might only give up 1-2 runs himself, but still get a no-decision or loss... and if we lose a 2-1 game AND use up Nola, we're in a real tough spot.

Basically, I think Nola would be a sure thing for a game 2 win. Our pitchers vs their bats and vice versa, I would say Glenn isn't too far behind Nola for the first game.

Tiger Bait--

As you know in baseball anything can happen.

Suppose Nola throws a 4-5 hitter.
Grey throws a 2-3 hitter. Maybe we lose 1-0.

Nola is now burnt. We then become underdog with all the pressure. Glenn throws game ONE.
Win or lose Game One--we still got Nola. We
win Game 2. And trounce their Number 3 starter-
if we go to game 3. We are going OMAHA!!!!!!!!!! I know opinions are just like arse holes---everybody's got one. JMHO

There is absolutely no chance on any planet that Nola doesn't pitch in Game 1 or 2.

No, you pitch nola. Every one else is good enough to get us through game 2 and 3.

I can't believe there is even any discussion about this.

Nola...SEC pitcher of the year. A conference that put 9...let me repeat that...9 teams in the post season.

vs Gray, coming out of a conference that put 3...let me repeat that...3 teams in the post season.

You roll out m'frickin' Nola in a Mayflower moving truck in game 1 and get it the frick on.

Strategy wins CWS--NOT PRIDE. If we burn ALL-SEC
Nola in Game 1 and LOSE a CLOSE ballgame--getting to OMAHA then becomes a 50/50 Prop. I like holding him back having the overwhelming advantage in game gives us then a 66% Advantage of
getting to the CWS.

You do not concede game one and make yourself play 2 straight must win games. Baseball is a game where anything can happen no matter what advantage you think you have.

Oh my....maybe we shouldn't have pitched him on Friday night in all those SEC series that he went 11-0 for the fear of we might lose...oh the horror.

well thank god we're not basing this decision off of that.

We are not conceding anything--Glenn can beat anybody. But once their ACE is One & Done --Win or Lose Game One(50/50--We have 90% Chance of winning Game 2 with our ACE Nola. And an a 90% chance we trounce their #3 and Eades/Bonvillian/& Bullpen holds their run count to 3 or Less.
We are going to OMAHA.
