No way. Nola has been a boss all year. No reason to basically concede game 1 when Nola could out pitch him just as easily. If you take down Gray game 1, you're in an excellent position to end the series game 2.

but if we had Nola against their #2, it would all but guarantee a game 3. And when you get to game 3, go with Eades for a VERY short leash and then bonvillain. It give us a much better chance IMO.

Never said it would. I said it should.

Eades has done enough to lose his spot IMO

Uhhh, no he doesn't. Gray has more K's and opponents hit him less than they hit Nola.

Meh. SEC was kinda weak this year.

Breg can, but Katz and Ibarra had trouble turning on Cody fricking Boutte's fastball last night.

The biggest worry for me, is that if Gray shuts us down (a very real possibility), then our options facing elimination are Eades who is proven he can't handle the big stage or Glenn who is coming off suspension and probably has rust. Not a pretty situation.

So, if we go with Glenn or Eades in game 1, and lose; then we'll have Nola in game 2, and still have to rely on Eades or a rusty Glenn in a winner take all game. Either way, we have to rely on Eades or Glenn (maybe both) to get us to Omaha.

I get what you're saying, but I just think you're overanalyzing it.

Friday is the biggest game of the year thus far. It's the opener of the biggest series of the year. Of course we're pitching our Ace. We'll figure out Sat/Sun when we get there.

Under Skip/Smoke, LSU did have a habit of absolutely obliterating ACE pitchers, though. We'll see if the tradition continues under Mainieri.

True, but at this point I just dont feel good about putting our hope in Eades especially after Friday.

Gotta throw your best in game one. Game one win in a home super regional is ALMOST a guaranteed ticket to Omaha. Gray is good, but will be pitching on the road in a rough environment with Bregman getting his mind right after sub par SEC tourney, Katz continuing his tear and even Rhymes getting some clutch hitting. I see an LSU 2 game sweep weekend if we start Nola and win a close game. If we beat their ace we should win the weekend. My biggest concern is who to start in game 2.

Correct. Nola won't win this series by himself. NO matter how you slice it, one of those other two (maybe even both!) are going to have to step up as well.

I think we may tee off on Gray.

I've been watching his clips and reading about him. He throws a lot of heat in the strike zone. Breg and Katz can easily get around on high heat in the strike zone.

It's not just the velocity. Dude has a lot of movement on his heat.

Exactly, but in Game 3, OU hasn't been able to find a consistent 3rd starter and has been flipping between several guys all year. That gives us a better chance than going against their Saturday guy who has been GREAT.

True and rusty or not, id trust Glenn more than Eades at this point.

If their Saturday guy has been GREAT, then there's a chance even Nola may not beat him. So, we may not even get to a game 3 if OU's top 2 pitchers are that great. You can play these "what ifs" for several different scenarios.

Absolutely and you also have to remember we are the top 4 national seed, not them. So you can play your game or plays theres. I would assume PM will play ours and pitch Nola game 1.

Have u looked at the big 12? And keep in mind OU finished 2 games over .500 in the big 12. So yea u start Nola without a doubt. OUs number two has similar numbers to eades and glenn. I feel pretty good about our second and third starters against theirs.

I'm pitching Nola in the opener.

The rest of the rotation should depend on whether we win or lose the first one.

Win=Eades
Lose=Glenn
