Don't worry, won't be long before BK's ego realizes he's not good enough to win it all. So, being the type of person he is, he's going to use LSU as his retirement and do things his way even if it means sinking the ship with him. Which is basically what he's doing now slowly because he knows LSU has no threat to getting rid of him.

Doing exactly what he did at ND. Eventually he'll start scapegoating assistants and calling players out directly. Then you know he's either headed to retirement or he's bolting for someone else if they're dumb enough to want him because like at ND, he will lose booster support.

No he doesn’t

The best thing about O by far was always his recruiting

He was mediocre to (mostly) bad at pretty much everything else it took to be a big time CFB head coach.

Eventually he just got exposed for what/ who he he was.

He deserves less credit. He had no fricking clue what was going on. He's quite possibly the biggest conman in college head coaching history.

I;m grateful for 2019, but he should have stepped aside after that because he quit trying.

But I am forever happy for 2019 and all they did.

Explain. When you are the leader of a major college program you are responsible for everyone in the building. He built 2019. That isn't a con, that is a true to form masterpiece of a season. Did he blow it, sure. But he built it and then got complacent. Right now there are a ton of dudes that came from his tenure tearing it up in the NFL after putting together a season that may never be replicated. Queen, Delpit, Stingley, Chase, JJets, Nabers, BTJ, Burrow, etc.. He built that shite. How is it a con?

I can actually get behind this and makes me more thankful for us having Bryant Vincent at the helm here at ULM. I don't have a personal relationship with Kelly like I have with the coaches in the past. I was kind of a big deal around the program for quite a while, so now I just stick to ULM and try to catch an occasional LSU game here and there now. #talonsout

Dave Arranda and Joe Brady (and Steve Ensminger) left. No more adults in charge of the toddler.

It was over.

ZERO had no idea how to run a program. When he lost the assistants who orchestrated the « Lightning in the bottle », his breath taking INCOMPETENCE, the clown was exposed.

Even his wife exposed his avarice, greed and buffonery!!!

O was screwed going into 2020. He has the greatest team ever and coaches basically all leave. I truly think anyone would have had a hard time with that. Maybe not Nick Saban, but a lot of coaches would have had shite seasons. Add in the absolute shite show of politics and covid, our season was doomed. He just couldn't bounce back from that. Sucks because he really was one of the best "cheerleaders" for the program, and I bet he still is. He's still a good ol boy from south shite Louisiana that dreamed of playing for the Tigers. Would he have lasted? IDK, maybe a few more seasons, but I don't think he would have lasted until an old man retirement.

So in comparison, what does that say about BK?

Coach O brought in Burrow, had Chase and Jefferson, along with others and had ONE OF THE GREATEST COLLEGIATE TEAMS EVER.

BK had JD5, Nabers, Thomas, and others......and DIDN'T EVEN MAKE THE PLAYOFFS!

Perkins hasn't grown, he's the same player as when he first got here. Weeks wouldn't have seen the field in most years at LSU. He plays hard and has a great motor but over-pursues time and time again.
Perkins in miserable in coverage, yet he gets positioned to cover far too often. My point is BK and staff aren't really developing these guys. We have a bunch of WR's but ultimately no Alpha, no one dominant WR1.

BK's resume looks MUCH better than Coach O's. Reality is, BK benefitted from being at a school that only had 1 or 2 major games per year. Compare the three previous coaches and how long it took them to win a NC....BK hasn't even built a PLAYOFF worthy team yet. The biggest indictment is how Freeman took over with no HC experience and took them to the NC.

I love how a main criticism of BK is his Sloan and House hires. A huge reason O got canned was because he brought Pelini back. But when great assistants are brought in the HC gets zero credit? Instead the ASSISTANTS were the ones running the show. Those assistants played a huge part of 2019, but saying O gets no credit for putting together a great coaching staff is a joke!

O supported Trump At a time when LSU was playing the woke card. We put George Floyd's HS colors on Tiger Stadium for God's sake. O wasn't as disciplined as a Saban and couldn't control the leftist sentimentality going on. His 2019 team was so good so he lost some of his best assistants and the dye was cast. His personal weaknesses didn't help.

I wish we still had him or at least listened to his advice and hired Kiffin. Ole Miss won't be able to keep Kiffin and I just as soon have him
sooner than later.. Kiffin is cocky but he has gotten better. At least he can coach the offense. Kelly can't coach either. It's unforgivable to have that 2023 offense and absolutely no defense. Now we have a great defense and a pitiful offense. O would have done better. O would probably take $6 M and give the extra 4 M to assistants. Kelly sucks.

If I thought the only issue was that he mailed it in, then yes. And I do wish he had not decimated the program like he did. But at least part of the issue was that he was simply not good at hiring his staff. Outside of JB and without the addition of Brady to help open the offense up, O was not going to be a good coach for any stretch. I think 2017 was probably his best season without a generational QB and someone on staff with the ability to use him.

who is Javion?

but to answer your question:

one of those 2 coaches went out and signed a guy he admittedly had never even heard of prior to an assistant telling him to go after him.
that player had attempted 39 passes total over 2 seasons.

the other coach recruited a guy he had 3 years of film on (I guess 2-1/2 since the COVID year was mixed in). started 29 games attempted over 700 passes
had over 6,000 career passing yards and 1,200 career rushing yards. Had a total of 45 career TDs.

so one of those is using a shite ton of available info to make an educated guess as to what a guy may be able to do for him.

the other one is basically closing his eyes and tossing a dart at the board.
