He's been coaching almost his entire adult life. He's been around Jimmy Johnson, Pete Carroll and Sean Payton. Yes, he knows what he's doing. I'd rather him be cautious than risk serious injury or exacerbate a minor injury.

I'm not even sure it's that. I think it's attention span more than half the time. I've seen guys ream someone for saying something they agree with because they clearly only read the title or first line of a post that subsequently went on to make the point that the premise stated in the title or first line was wrong.

They have so much data analysis now from impact during drills to steps taken to energy consumed each day. They said a few years ago they would start holding guys out to stay within a range to keep kids from over doing it. It’s a long season. Killing yourself in August isn’t in your best interest anymore unless you’re in a position battle. Our guys being held out aren’t.

My worry is that this soft approach to holding players out is causing them to be unconditioned & will lead to more injuries. The opponents aren't going to slow down when we play them in a real game, so they need to play game speed at most times.
