Bad coaching. Plays should be drawn up for JR to throw from his knees, since he can throw the ball 150 yds from one knee.

Let's see:
Tim Couch (21 mil):
1,025-1,714 59.8%
TD-INT 64-67
11,131 yds
QB Rating 75.1
*Owns several season records for the Browns
Ryan Leaf (31 mil, 11 guaranteed):
317-655 48.4%
TD-INT 14-36
3,666 yds
QB Rating 50.0
JR (68 mil, 31 guaranteed):
330-639 51.6%
TD-INT 17-21
3,860
QB Rating 65.5
While his numbers are slightly better than Leaf, you can easily make the argument that getting paid twice as much as Leaf results in a bigger bust here. While Tim Couch may not have lived up to his full hype, he did at least have a decent NFL career.

Im not afraid no. Im disappointed with and for him. But, from what everyone says, he's a lazy multi-millionare and doesnt give a.

This is kind of a legality issue, but with the owners opting out of the CBA next year, and the possibility of a lock out...isn't there a pretty good chance the Raiders can just cut him and not look back? I thought I saw somewhere on ESPN.com that a lot of the big bust players are in danger of being dumped. If that happens, do the Raiders owe him any "guaranteed" money?

Not going to surpass Ryan Leaf.

I don't think this would work. He would be considered down before the play got started.

Ryan Leaf is the biggest bust in NFL history because he was a complete and utter 12 year old mentally and emotionally AND because the Chargers gave up three draft picks and two players (including a pro-bowler) to get him.
Tim Couch was decent player in a bad draft who had some bad shoulder injuries...he probably would be a decent backup for someone if it weren't for the injuries. I wouldn't even put him in the top ten for busts honestly.
Jamarcuss still has some time...the raiders cutting him would be the best thing that ever happened to him.

This.
Then if he picked up w/ a team that had an aging veteran QB, say Philly, and learned to play the position while sitting, he might become a great success.
If you look at all the qb's in the NFL most did not come in, start, and begin a march to the hall of fame. PM may be the exception, but most follow a road filled w/ turns and detours.

It was reported that he had $60 million, six year contract, with a $30 million guarantee. After three years they probably have paid him the thirty million. I suppose they could drop him at the end of the season. I have read reports that Al is having some financial problems. If that is true, JR may get his wish, if he wants to move to another team.

Not in the NFL. Maybe it's worth a shot...

"You actually thought I was gonna try hard, didn't ya? Fooled y'all suckas ... I'm rich beotch!!!" -- Russell to the Raiders organizaton

no one ever thinks poorly of UK for Tim Couch being a bust. or WSU when they think of Leaf. They only think of them in terms of the NFL team

Anyone afraid of prospect (or reality) of JaMarcus Russell
Being labeled the biggest bust in NFL history overtaking Tim Couch? Would kind of suck because he's associated with LSU.
Why? LSU's role in Russell's development ended with the draft. At that point, LSU had put JaMarcus in a position to be the #1 drafted player. I'd say, that's pretty good news for LSU. Is it "good" for Southern Miss in any tangible way that one of the greatest QB's to ever play the game played there? Has it helped Mississippie Valley St any that Jerry Rice once played there?
Honestly...I think your question would have been better phrased "Are YOU GUYS embarrassed to have JaMarcus Russell associated with LSU since your friends and family know you're an LSU fan and they'll talk shite to you because he hasn;t panned out?"
Because in the end, that's what you're asking I think...

I don't care what he does in the pro's, I wont be embarrassed about Jamarcus Russell and nor should any LSU fan. He played well and won a bunch of games for us.

they said the same shite about Terry Bradshaw and the Pittsburg fans did their best to run him out of town...gee, doesn't that sound familiar? we all know what Bradshaw accomplished once he realised he was just as good and better than those who attacked him. Oakland was the worst possible scenerio for JaMarcus but he took their money and it is now up to him to get serious about earning it. JaMarcus has a ton of talent...maturity, better coaching and maybe a change of scenery could hasten his progression. I would love to see him in a Saints uni learning from Drew Brees. geaux...beat jopa.
