Hawthorne had a unique voice. That's it. He routinely fricked up calls. I mean he would make several mistakes a game. He allowed Doug Moreau to step all over his calls for years, and it never got better. He was also hugely negative. I get he's a fan as well, but Jesus. He could make an opponent's 6 yard gain sound like it was the end of the program. I think Blair is a very good announcer, and in a few years, no one will be complaining. Honestly the fact that he made one mistake last night and people are clamoring for the good ol' days is hilarious to me, considering how God awful Hawthorne could be on the regular.

Chris. Blair. Is. Very. Measured. And. Very. Smooth. Some. May. Say. Methodical. And. Perhaps. Even. Mechanical. In. His. Delivery.

I think he tries hard and is well informed as to the subject matter, but unfortunately falls squarely into the pattern of everything else surrounding the management of the athletic programs, which is to say, over managed. Everything now is massaged to death, to the point that it is no longer genuine. It's a caricature of what some think LSU is.

Every time I hear Chris say "Tigers Win", it just seems hollow, forced, and disingenuous.

I know I'm being harsh...

Damn you know LSU is doing good when the rant bitches about the radio call of the biggest touchdown of the game...

I mean it’s not like he grew up an LSU fan. He’s been here 2 years, give him some time.

This is a fast game and announcers are not perfect. Blair is doing fine. I miss Hawthorne too but some of you guys will be mentioning Jack Hunt in Hawthorne's obituary.

CB is a massive upgrade on baseball broadcasts. I could imagine yesterday's game would be tough to call. The national guys kept giving incorrect info as well. The damn refs called wrong numbers on every penalty on top of everything else they screwed up.

It was bad.

But he’s generally very good, so I’ll let it slide.

Blair is ok, I miss Jim’s calls though. He had the classic LSU Voice. I used to try everything to match Jim up with the tv, Blair I’ve never tried because he basically sounds like the tv announcers

It's not like Blair gave a defensive player's name for Dillon

It’s just as bad if not worse to call a 71yd TD reception a pick 6. At least in Hawthorne’s case, it was a Hail Mary with multiple receivers bunched up.

I like Blair, but yesterday was not a good day.

Before the game he made note of the difficult vantage point from the press box. He was in the corner of the end zone.

It makes sense to be a little late or off with your calls if you're not seeing things unfold in real time. It's tough to call football live. The Dillon call was definitely not his best work. Disappointing.

Man you’re crazy. For one he sounds like a Yankee. Two he has some of the cheesiest sayings I’ve ever heard. I had friends from other states that moved to LA and loved listening to his calls BECAUSE of how passionate he was.

Ever heard Gene Deckerhoff from FSU/Tampa Bay Bucs? His level of excitement doesn't change when the opposing team make a great play. It would be tough really tough to listen to if you were a fan of those teams.

The problem I have with Blair is he takes too long on calls. While this means he gets the calls correct, it drives me crazy hearing the fans erupt and 10 seconds later the call coming through.

Blair’s fricking awful and this is from a guy who didn’t really care for Hawthorne. How hard is it to describe what’s going on? Obviously pretty hard because it seems like Blair doesn’t give a shite.

Ever listen to John Ferguson? His expressions were classic. My best was when the defense made a big stop "we jumped a snake".
