When they say "frick LSU?". If they hate you you're doing something right. They don't say "frick Vandy."
Posted on 11/26/23 at 8:48 pm to Jim Rockford
I didn’t know they did that.

who is "they"? Fill me in on this proud tradition...

Love it. We always crank Dixieland Delight at tailgates. They don't get to own the song

They do, I was in Bryant-Denny to hear it. "frick Auburn, and LSU, and Tennessee too" are the Gump lyrics.

The song is about Tennessee

Response: RTWFY.
I always wonder how players feel when they hear Calling Baton Rouge or Dixieland Delight (in Bama’s case). They weren’t born when the songs were written and I can’t imagine more than a very few, if any, would ever listen to either song if they weren’t played at home games. I imagine most players for both schools are probably thinking “I hate this shite” every time those songs are played.

It’s great irony that Bama has tried to make this their signature song- a la “Callin Baton Rouge”- and it’s about a Saturday night in Tennessee

To be fair, what does "Sweet Home Alabama" say, which should be their signature song? That the skies are blue?

what does "Sweet Home Alabama" say,
“Montgomery has got the answer”
Realize what that means

Lol but not a rival!

I hate Bama, but I love the tradition of fans getting rowdy and belting out a song like that. Calling Baton Rouge, Dixieland Delight, I Won’t Back Down — it’s all great and part of what makes college football special. Just appreciate it for what it is.

U calling Ronny Van Zandt a racist?
“In 1975, Van Zant said: "The lyrics about the governor of Alabama were misunderstood. The general public didn't notice the words 'Boo! Boo! Boo!' after that particular line, and the media picked up only on the reference to the people loving the governor."[16] "The line 'We all did what we could do' is sort of ambiguous," Al Kooper notes, "'We tried to get Wallace out of there' is how I always thought of it."[16] Toward the end of the song, Van Zant adds "where the governor's true" to the chorus's "where the skies are so blue," a line seemingly contradictory to the previous lyrics. Journalist Al Swenson argues that the song is more complex than many believe and is not an endorsement of Wallace.[16] Van Zant said: "Wallace and I have very little in common. I don't like what he says “

I thought it was pretty cool when we went to the game earlier this month. That was the loudest the stadium had gotten

Every song our band plays was created before the players were born, too. You’ve been thinking those songs are played for the players? News flash, they most definitely are not. The songs are played for the fans. The fans in turn get excited and are having more fun, which translates to them cheering for the players. That is all the players care about from those songs.

Spend my dollar
Parked in a holler 'neath the mountain moonlight
Hold her up tight
Make a little lovin'
A little turtle dovin' on a Mason-Dixon night
Fits my life, oh so right
My Dixieland Delight
So it obviously isn’t typical Alabama cousin fricking situation, but maybe date rape or picking up a hooker or something

That would be like saying we try to make Bitch I’m from Louisiana our signature song. Sweet Home Alabama is far and away their signature song.
